Cool Car on BAT!

This was a build we did a few years ago, and has been Matt's personal driver. Thought you guys may like to check it out!

I've seen that car before. It's a work of art. I would rather that than a real R or Sport Purposes from the factory.

Holy smokes, I was so mesmerized by how good the build looks that I didn’t even notice it was a 912 originally.

In a custom build, what does it matter if it started life as a 912 or a 911? It is a custom built hot rod using a altogether different drive train than the original. So instead of not using a 4 cylinder they did not use a 6 cylinder? what does that matter?
The end product is the same other than the vin# between a 912 and a 911 built hot rod.

Not only that but the link itself is titled as a 911 and it shows up in a "Porsche 911" search on their site.

"this Porsche 1968 912 was..." Opening sentence. I don't see any hiding anything.

912 chassis is irrelevant in my opinion.... just fun to bust balls.... this car will sell strong but it probably should. It is a well thought out build in a great color.... $110,000 to $120,000.

That's the ballpark I'm guessing. Probably will go for more since it's BAT though.

That’s an interesting topic. So if starting as a 912 has no impact then I suppose if it’s a 74-75 carrera or 74-77 euro carrera that’s been hot rodded it would conversely not be worth any additional? What if it was a hot rodded RS or R or ST? I honestly think the VIN makes a difference but I think it’s definitely an interesting conversation to be had

The vin# does have an impact so does matching engine and transmission #'s to perceived value. but in the real use of something it has none.
It is a interesting topic.

I think the VIN/matching # engine/transmission will make a differance if the fully original restored concourse quality car is worth more than the modded example. If not it doesn’t mean anything. Case in point.

I guess what I’m asking is let’s say you build a ‘74 3.0 RS is there any added value if you start with a 74 US Carrera versus a 74 911 S versus an 80 SC?
