Targa Roof Panel
Hi,
Hopefully someone will chime in. I have a Targa roof panel. It is not perfect but looks ok. I will post pictures tomorrow. What are they roughly worth? Thanks James |

Depends on the application, condition and style. Is it for a 911 or a 914? Does it accordion fold or is it solid. Is it a transparent top or not? A posted picture would speak 1000 words in understanding exactly what top you have.

Good point!
1979 SC (I think at least). Very dirty - needs cleaning. The latches may not be perfect but they are there. Trim at the front on one side seams loose. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I have sold a few over the years. I got $3k for a really nice one from an 87. Sold a couple of good ones for $2k and a couple of serviceable ones for about a grand. All were from 84 or later cars.

Back in June of 2012 I was looking on here in the used parts section and there was a Targa top for sale. Guy had just had the whole thing rebuilt with a new top, etc. It had a small scratch in one corner but looked as new. Since the hard top Targa top is OEM on my car (I still have it) I wanted a folding one so I did not have to carry around the large top. He started it at $500 OBO. It sat for weeks. He lowered it to $375 OBO. It sat for another 2 weeks. I offered him $285 plus shipping and I got it. Looks new except for the scratch. When it came it was better than the photos. Goes to show how far things have come in six years. Parts were very inexpensive for these cars (especially used) - back in the day. Oh well. I wonder what a Porsche factory hard Targa top is worth nowadays from a '75. Probably at least half of what I paid for the car. |

Some of the tops I sold were back in early 2010's and before. I could be wrong but Ive never seen one in good working order and good cosmetically for $500 or lower.

Thank you for the replies. Yes - prices have changed.
What determines serviceability? I would sell it as a core. I have circled the areas of concern. One circle is a covering that is loose. The other two circles are showing the latches - one sticks out more than the other. ![]() ![]() Last edited by jamesjedi; 11-13-2018 at 11:15 AM.. |

Guess I got a deal then. No one seemed to want it, and he had a problem selling. I think it was $340 total with shipping or something.

Assuming there are no rips in the cover or the head liner - what should I ask for it?
I am not interested in selling it to someone who thinks it should be in great shape. I will sell it as a core. Thanks again for the replies. |

Hard to tell. Clean it up, lube the latches and hinges and take some pics outside. It's worth at least $1000, maybe up to $2k depending on condition.

IIRC, those handles are removable. (snap in and out) The one sticking out is just not fully seated. Or could be an issue with the keyed hole it's trying to get into.

hard to see the condition on your pictures at least $ 1000 give or take. I sold one last year for $ 500 bit less condition and it took a while and while, but in the end it went. Good luck. and who knows someone pays you $ 2000.00?
