good power through entire throttle range here. funny thing is the car at the higher altitude up here is actually running a tad leaner with no jetting changes at all????? not sure how or why this is the case, but it has been to this point. it's now getting the AF numbers i was always shooting for at sea level.

maybe it's the clean, smog free air up here in the foothills?

got it out again yesterday and it was a blast. about 30 miles up 108 and back, then around "town" some. did not anticipate doing this much driving so early in the year but the weather is dry and snow free at 7k feet plus.

Hey Ronnie, come on up to NY and take my 72 for a carbureted spin. I love to hear your opinion and maybe, just maybe, get you off your turbo powered high horse.SmileWavy

That's a very tall horse, NNasty - not easy to climb down from that bisch!

And I would be honored to flog your . . . caveman car, but fair warning that I always roll commando!!!

TB's car's too darn clean for a caveman. He needs a new moniker, something from the other thread might just do ...

How often do you think the bumpers are cleansed with baby wipes?

Rawknees'Turbo 02-27-2020 11:50 AM

^^^

What about Tobs's personal bumper - baby wipes used there too? How effective could they be with all that caveman foliage?!?!

They might something in common after all !

Seriously, that's one thoroughly cleansed car. What's the secret to that pure white ? Thought cavemen all run dirty carbs.

Rawknees'Turbo 02-27-2020 09:23 PM

^^^

Nutz, if you want to see a truly fuel fouled rear end on a car (the back 3rd of the quarters, too), check out a Turbo with its dinosaur tech CIS - bisch runs so rich at initial closed throttle, and often times mid-range, just prior to boost onset (depending on level of WUR tune), that the back of the car gets thoroughly speckled with carbon. The engine's very low static compression ratio plays a role in that, too.

pmax 02-27-2020 09:36 PM

^^^ This random 930 seems OK at idle revving ...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IS-ZVQJFnQs

But yeah, the CIS dinotech is dirty but still cleaner than caveman carbs ! Note the dirty behind on that 930. That's the other weird thing ... all these carb boys seem obsessed with a clean posterior. The motronic on the 3.2 is space age by comparison and the pipes are soot free.

Rawknees'Turbo 02-27-2020 09:43 PM

They can run very lean and clean at idle and stationary throttle blipping, but get one out on the road, and watch what goes on with the AFR meter during the conditions I mentioned. There's a reason these bisches got awarded with the gas guzzler tax, back in the day - fookin more thirsty than Bernz after one of his Real McCoy encounters!!!

what you guys need is a shug "what do you see here thread" regarding the bumper. it's actually not even painted and the white jell coat is orange peel texture. the bright sun in the case hides the truth.

actually rarely wash, in fact it's not been washed since ive been up here.

Real McCoy encounters come around once in a lifetime, perhaps twice if one is extremely lucky. Like Nick said, corn roller, corn rollee, you two bois should consider yourselves part of the most fortunate few club. It's akin to winning the lottery!
