So help me value this 87
I purchased this car in June 09 as a very nice guards red driver. Has lived all its life in garages which is why the interior and dash are very nice, no cracks etc. Had 168k on it in 09 and has 270k miles now, I like to drive it. The red paint was simply tired and not liking red I had it painted Mexico Blue which I love. Was a glass out, partial disassembly job meaning doors, bumpers, mirrors, sunroof, bits, but not the front fenders. Only ever heard compliments. New elephant suspension bits and bigger T-bars. You get the picture. I've replaced anything that needed replacing and lots of things simply to get them newer to make the care reliable period and the list is long. Drove the car this year from North Carolina to Baton Rouge, Palmer, MA for a Vintage event, and then a month later to Calabogie, ON for 3 days of track time. Never missed a beat.
Engine was rebuilt complete winter of 2010/11 because of worn valve guides. Was told all looked great inside but still did all the wear parts. Absolutely no leaks so far after 8 years. FYI, even has a complete 3 year old Griffith AC system that works well. Can I get 40K, 45K, plus/minus for it ? I also have a ton of parts and 2 extra wheel sets and nearly everything that I took off for upgrading. I know I have to make up the long description and 60 photo montage. I am the first owner to do track days and have nearly 70 days with this car so far, lots of Italian tune ups. Reason to consider selling, just thinking I want to try a different car in the time I have left to enjoy this hobby. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I like the color as well. I will say depending on if you have all the receipts and paper for everything you have done to it and if any of the paperwork prior to you will help with that number. Also it shows well in pictures but whats the condition of the paint in person. Could be a factor. I will say it has the curb appeal. I think your number isn't to far off. High 30's to low 40's. That's if you have the rebuild paperwork. If not, I would say high 20's to low 30's.

No way. Wrong color, 270K miles, and 70 track days? At least you are being honest, but no way is there $40-$45K worth of value to anyone in this car.

I think you could see mid 30's if you have better pics and can get it on BaT
After all its a 911, with a G50, in an iconic color, and it has a rebuild. I would study some of the successful Porsche hot rod ads on BAT then photograph it right.

I like it a lot. What's the interior like, stockish or track stuff?
It's been driven hard, but clearly it's been taken good care of, and I think there is some kind of appeal to that. I almost feel that the very high mileage and high track use add to the charm of the car. A real man's porsche, enjoyed like it was meant to be. I'd put my over/under at $35k. |

The paint is of course taking a beating at the track and from driving, should never be considered a garage queen. I have hundreds of photos taken during the life of the car with me including the rebuild which was a combo of me and the good folks at Black Forest in Denver, NC who did the bottom end for me when I chickened out. I did the top end assembly myself and Anchor did the heads. I do have receipts but to me the proof is in the running. I know I'm the classic owner with waaay to much personal effort invested and wanting a lot out of any sale. Been watching BAT, sales are all over the place there. The trend to me is that there is no trend, just what day of the week and who is paying attention.
Wrong color, what does that mean ? I tend to agree with those that say mileage (should) means nothing after 30 years and is more how the car is taken car of. Mine has been highly taken care of.

Have both, the original "comfort seats" and do put them in if I want to travel several thousand miles. Can think of no reason not to drive the heck out of it and keep maintaining it. Nothings really happening at the track to hurt the car for those who know cars.
Currently since VIR, have cobra fixed back seats installed and a harness bar which is removable, no roll bar. Nothing is messed up inside. Everything looks nice, seats have no bolster wear. Comments are about what I expect, its a terrible time of year to sell where I am with snow and salt on the roads. This will be a late spring project if I go forward.

Yeah, just put it on BaT, they'll gloss over all the details, you'll get your $45K no problem.

I feel sad any time a long time owner parts with his car.
All of our days are numbered. Glad to see someone log the big miles.

Great color choice. I think $40ish is the number by your description. Car seems sorted so mileage won't play a big factor IMO.

Some one can invest 40 on this and add some money and make it a screaming street hod rod.
They could then sell it on BAT for $100K+

Unless it’s a totally rebuilt like new hot rod, there is no way this ever pulls 100k+ anywhere, even on BaT. I.E. the only way it’ll ever see that kind of money is if it’s been so refreshed that the mileage on the odometer becomes inconsequential - and thus reset to zero. And 40k doesn’t come close to getting there, that math just doesn’t work.

It sounds like you are too attached to this car and anything less than the 40-45 number you have in mind will not fly for you. So there’s your answer. That’s your ask, if you don’t get it, keep it.

That car will just sit at $40k. $35-36k or put it on BaT and maybe get lucky. That’s the only place that car sells near 40.

Thanks for all the comments.
Decided to come back to this and remind myself, thanks to all. I'll likely install new rotors/pads and fuel filter that I have on the shelf in February while the outside world is salty/snowy. Check the ignition rotor/cap and replace if needed. All else is really good to go for the year. Will be ready for mid March first track weekend of 2019. Once she's outside I can decide whether to do a photo shoot and list or not. Problem with selling is having to replace the car which is exciting and a PIA. Only thing easy with this hobby is doing nothing.

This is a Porsche guys Porsche. I love the color, the story and the fact that you fixed everything as you went along....plus your honesty.
$40-45 is strong. Mid $30's. I'm thinking a like minded driver would snap it up.

Looks like a great car.
My only concern on how to value it is at what point does the tranny and another top end come to play? With miles and track days a plenty post engine rebuild its not far off. Solid leak down number could help push this mid to high 30s. If motor was fresh 45k maybe.

Maybe I’ll do a leak down, opportunity to buy or borrow the tool. There is always another rebuild or refresh in the future so not gonna worry about that to much. Leak and smoke free for now!

That many track days and the ring and pinion is guaranteed to be shagged. Gearbox is due for a full reman.
