I wish my Porsche collection appreciated by 36% in the past week. Where do I sign up for that plan?

Hey now. It's not like they are asking $750k. It's a bargain at $635k

$100K + for the risk of the flip

35% + ROI- not bad if you can get that in one year or less.

I know for some people these cars are strictly business, no love, strictly business. I'm really a nice guy, and, a die hard capitalist. However, the Porsche lover in me wants this guy to take it up the poop shoot.

To each his own. Bill Noon (Symbolic Motorcars) is a decent dude. Looks like he pulled the trigger on a nice car and has decided to flip it. All I can say, good for him if he can get his ask. Sometimes it pays to go to the auction houses. Don’t knock the hustle;-)

He bought the car in an open market at an auction. anyone could have bid. If he makes money more power to him. not like he stole it from some unsuspecting PO...

I thought it went cheap. I didn't have a good look at it though. There is one of those cars local here with similar mileage. Now I have a few ideas. All I need is $467k USD

Well we’ll know in a couple of weeks if Symbolic got a good deal on it or not. RM has another one up for auction in Paris...

Hard to compare RS cars apples to apples. You really have to see them in person and have an expert go through them since the good ones are considered blue chip investment these days. Restoration quality and originality go a long way ($100,000s).

I get it, but the blue one looks pristine. If it doesn’t get bid up to its estimate, it is more likely that the market has softened on these, as opposed to Symobilc scoring a phenomenal deal.

Agreed. That blue car looks like it had a no expense spared high quality restoration.

"Throughout the latter part of the decade, preparation of chassis no. 1231 was entrusted to Porsche Classic Stuttgart, and the car received a full engine rebuild on a replacement crankcase – as denoted by the factory issued ‘AT’ suffix. Following the conclusion of its latter-day competition career in 2013, Dr Scholz instructed Classic911 GmbH of Frankfurt to return the car ‘Touring’ specifications. This included a bare metal respray and the fitment of rear seat squabs and belts for occasional passenger accommodation. Supported by a comprehensive history file, current FIA HTP papers and an original owners’ handbook with RS supplement, it would be difficult to find a more correct example."

I agree with you. I think that buy was more likely just the market talking, not an outlier. Making it much more difficult to flip for a profit, especially if the market is trending lower.

My own personal opinion on this particular model is that it went way too far on the upside in relation to its production numbers. As far as I’m concerned, when there’s a comma needed in the production number, it’s not really all that limited in numbers.
