Another agressive flip

Check this flip out; bought on BAT for $31k and now offered on Excellence for $62k.
Granted $31k was a great buy but they didn't fix the "easily fixable rust" prior to doubling the price.

Nice! I wish I had the market knowledge and time to pull flips like that. Cha-Ching.

Matt Monson 12-18-2018 02:00 PM

Meh. It’s a dealer. They buy and sell cars. That’s what they do.

What makes it even more aggressive is how they jumped a year, clocked it for half the mileage and changed the interior in such a short period of time.

True.... I was furthering your point that a cursory look at the two listings shows you they're two different cars.

dwelle 12-18-2018 04:10 PM

speednme1 12-18-2018 04:35 PM

Ha! This thread is something I would do. Skim read and then post about it missing the details. :D
Nice to know I'm not the only D.A. around here... SmileWavy

Although it is interesting how the auto GTS's seem to be dropping as the 5 speeds increase and earlier 928's seem to climb.

I sense ppl don't like flips.
but nothing prevents YOU from outbidding the flipper?
it only takes me 2 min to request a wire after I have your wire instruction and in less than 4 hours most major bank will have it executed with fed wire number back to you. so if you don't like flippers, you should just buy it before they do..

I don't flip. but I do outbid others on cars I want.

I don't see the issue really....

Moody,
As this is primarily an enthusiast site, flippers are frowned upon. They are not banished, more like outcasts we accept as a part of the society. They play a role different than most here. Some are wonderfully helpful. These earn trust and subsequently business.

Me neither. I do have a problem with flipper/dealers that buy a car, mark it up a ton and try to pass off obvious issues etc. There a bunch of these types out there in the air-cooled market unfortunately.

That’s a scam, doubt anyone appreciates that.

My issue is curbstoners, who jump title, make up stories, and are generally crooked people. If a dealer has a license I don’t care. If I guy finds a barn find, gets it running, registers it and flips it I still don’t care. I made $10k on my first 911 owning it less than a year. I made $5000 on my 924S after driving it about six months. Am I a flipper?

trader220 12-22-2018 05:30 PM

I've been on several sides here. I have sold a couple dozen of my own 911's over the years, a number of which I owned for short periods of time. I have sold many as a dealer once I got into the biz. As an individual I never curbstoned a car, and has been said, that's where I find the biggest issue.

Matt, I just flipped you the bird - does that count?!?!
