my 73 RSR Look is

my 73 RSR Look is going to paint this month at RS Werks.
I have a set of GT Classic seats in red leather. The rest of the interior is black.

What color would be most desirable if and when I am ready to sell?
What makes the best "selling color"?

It’s been done over and over but you can’t beat slate grey with red interior.

Agreed. Not too many colors go well with red seats. Also like Fashion Gray

Singer has a blue car not sure which blue with a red interior and it looks amazing.

trader220 01-16-2019 03:35 PM

White always looks great with red interior.

Why not get the color you really want rather than worry about how it may effect a sale price some year in the future. In the future you could be dead (hope not), in the future the market could tank, in the future we could all be gone. If you've spent a fortune with Scotti over there at RS Works and had him build you the car of your dreams, what color were you dreaming about?

JMS935 01-16-2019 03:40 PM

Pearl white with lipstick red!

SalParadise 01-16-2019 03:42 PM

I say white or silver for a red interior. I personally would go white.

littleoldman 01-16-2019 04:37 PM

I like white and the Slate Grey (family). Blue is cool as well but I have a Blue already...hmmm

The car was originally Metallic Green...but we are so far past "original" we figured no need to keep it green.

You do realize that you are allowing $1500 worth of seats dictate a $25k+ paint decision?

Alan A 01-16-2019 06:07 PM

Metallic green and recover the seats

matt930s 01-17-2019 03:18 AM

Lol.

I've seen those seats. They're definitely not $1500 seats.
I love the gray with red combo.
Like the white with red.
Silver with red is gorgeous but done a fair amount.

Okay so they're $2000 or $2500. Same point. Same as speculation on what color might sell better in the future.

Only one car can pull off the white/red look.

If you are thinking about re sale I would look at what’s been peaking on BAT. Personally I think red / slate is overdone. The more obscure flat colors, like olive green, come to mind when trying to predict what the next most desired.
But like the OP said choose to color you really want then give the car the interior that works best with it. The seats could always be re dyed or sold on PFS.

No way. Every car made during the 60s had a white with all red interior option.

I like all red interior. Oslo Blue with red interior was a 356 combo.
I debated that combo for my 74 then found out it's originally an Ice Green Metallic car and have no idea what I'm going to do now.

I have seen a cobalt blue (water cooled era color) with red interior and it was stunning.

IF you are trying to find a popular color for resale I would rethink the red interior choice. While all the combos mentioned above are stunning, red leather is not for everyone. However, if the seats are the only red leather in the interior, its not a big deal because those are easily changed out.

Mocker 01-17-2019 06:02 AM

Not trying to start a fight, but silver/red belongs to this car, doesn't it?
