3.0 liter core value?

Hi- This has been sitting in my apartment for five years and I guess I'm not going to find a use for it. Was told it came out of an SC. Turns over by hand. Serial number 64F suggests it's an 85 case. I read that some of the 83s were built with 84 cases but that would be E, not F. Fairly complete - includes the CIS in pieces, exhaust (less muffler), fan, shroud, engine tin, etc. Haven't done a complete inventory, but it is missing the alternator, harness and ECU. Don't know much more than that. No compression or leak down numbers. Other info I should include?

Probably needs to be local NYC tri-state area buyer. Can't imagine trying to ship.

$5k? Trying to get an accurate number because I've posted some things here before and they get snapped up with comments like "deal of the century". Any thoughts, thanks! Jim

Is it a 3.2 ?

No, case is an 85 (per Zimmermann's book), but it's a 3 liter CIS engine.

I sold a blown up core to a local shop for $6500 a year ago...should have been $7,500, the shop owner couldn't write the check fast enough

You were asked for a type number because SC engines ended in 83. Your engine has pressure fed tensioners like a 3.2. Help yourself get the information you seek by answering the questions asked instead of insisting your are right over and over.

In case your not familiar, the type is stamped on the case. I can see the edge of the “9” in the photo of the serial number. This will tell you and everyone else what the engine is

3.2 5-7k

jlynch1960 03-16-2019 04:37 AM

I'm not insisting that I'm right, just didn't understand what the question was directed toward.

The case is stamped 930/21. The heads are stamped K1926R (3/85). The camshaft housings are 930-105-111.1R. I can't find a number for the cylinders (covered by the tin?).

Just looking to list this for a fair price. That's all.

Ahhh finally something definitive from the Factory and not conjecture. '84 to '86 US 3.2 Carrera. And more "core value" than a late 3.0.

911hutch 03-16-2019 05:02 AM

To be clear, '84 t0 86 US 3.2 as indicated by the "engine type", 930/21. There is a strong market for that 3.2 core. CIS must be unrelated.

That’s a 3.2, which is worth $2-3k MORE than a 3.0. You’ve got an $8-10kcore there brother.

Hey, thanks for the feedback. Very much appreciated. And sorry for the lack of understanding on what I needed to post to get a sense of value. Thanks.
