That's a great question. I think its a great car personally. I think I have seen go rate on those 140k to 160k. On a side note a buddy of mine just told me a 997.1 GT3 RS black on black with like 60k miles on it no accidents. Car sold last week for 112k at auction couldn't believe it. Has the cool down started?? I was at Amelia last month and almost all the auctions were soft for Porsches. It could be good news for all of us enthusiasts! :D

A cool down would be great for enthusiasts who want to keep speculators out of our midsts.

I don’t think I have seen a decent 997 GT3 RS sell for anywhere near $112k, that seems more like the normal 997 GT3 selling range. I think 60k miles probably scared most speculators off, or maybe the fear of track time?

Was that RS in good shape - what about engine over revs and track time?

A 3k mile 996GT2 sold on BAT last summer for $154k. Now a 32k mile one just sold last weekend at RM Fort Lauderdale for only $101k.

That's really good pricing. I would love one for 100K, 32k miles not even broken in yet.

I don't have all of those details. It was a typical Porsche guy just chatting situation. He probably didn't know those details and I didn't ask. Interesting though on the price. I am sure people were scared of the miles. I would not have been. I would be driving the wheels off it. So miles means very little to me. Properly Maintained is key.

7.1 rs’s don’t commmand much of a premium like the 7.2s. Add mileage on top and that price makes sense,

that's not the norm. and the buyer is crazy so is the seller.
for 90k or so, you find some of the best 996gt3

I have a Speed Yellow 2005 with less then 6000 miles. I am the original owner and the car was ordered to my specs. I would bet it is very close in condition to the 2000 mile example you mention. What number would you put on mine?

Unless 997.1rs is green.. orange ones don't pull in the crazy numbers. Wish my fav color was orange rather than green and I had 150k haha :p

You probably can get around $105-$110k for it due to the low mileage.

This thread is bad for me, real bad. I had no idea a GT2 could be had for close to $100k. I don’t know where the market is going but in 2-7yrs if it is close to where it is now I don’t know that I’ll be able to resist.

The GT2 pricing seems like a deal right now... and seeing how the guys over on rennlist speak of their 996 GT3s, they seem like a deal too. A guy over there just bought one (with some needs) for $39k...

specialtyoneinc 04-05-2019 08:35 AM

Seems like a good deal

I never thought a GT2 of any flavor would be within my reach but once one or both of my kids are out of daycare I may have to make a move if prices stay close to where they are now. A GT3 would be amazing as well and probably suits my wants and needs better but there is something about a GT2 that is alluring, probably the crap loads of torque.

I hear you, there is an allure to even the idea of owning a GT2.

Mike964_61 04-11-2019 05:13 AM

I hear you also. I am not a turbo kind of guy but 100k for a GT2 hard to pass on that!

They were $100k or under all day before the hype / speculators took over the GT markets. The craze started with the 991.1 GT3. I have a feeling they will comeback to reality. You can already see it in the brand new GT market.

There is a ridiculous number of GTs for sale right now, kinda funny to see all the people jumping ship who thought they could never lose money on (non)exclusive models. It will be interesting to see how far the newer GTs fall.

For an outside observer like me, please decode the newer 911 alphabet soup designations.

Not a gt3. Not a 996 or 997 either. What’s to decode?

specialtyoneinc 04-11-2019 09:11 AM

It's definitely a bubble that is slowly deflating with all this ADM shenanigans.
