Ah... The 996 GT2. That was my hero car growing up cemented from the numerous 240p video clips of Rob Kenworthy's doing absolutely outrageous speeds in the Gumball and various other car rallies round the world.

Not so slowly for some, 991.1 GT3s can be had for close to $100k. I'm guessing there will be some "high mileage" ones under that number later this year.

Those were all automatics, good for the track rats, but I feel most enthusiasts enjoy all the “work” that a proper manual demands.

My guess is that the auto only GT3’s will continue to decline in value, whereas manual versions will always have more demand and hold their values better. Look at a Ferrari F430 manual vs auto resale values these days...

Currently 5 clean carfax 991.1 GT3s on autotrader listed at dealers for under $120k with 20-30k miles and quite a few more in the $120s.

It happened quick. Once we start seeing them hit 50, 60, 70k miles and truly lose low mileage status to "collectors" it will be THE bargain for the track.

That car has a six figure mileage markup.

It's been on the market for awhile. Didn't sell at Amelia recently also.

It'll probably be on the market a lot longer, unless the federalization is really that expensive... The RHD 12k mile one that sold in London in Oct 2017 for $125k sold in Oct 2018 for $73k even after the owner supposedly spent $35k "making it perfect" in that one year of ownership. Ouch.

I did read this when it was published. Great article! I feel the same way about the 996! Nice to hear others say they feel like it’s the purest GT Car. I wonder in a long time down the road these will be valuable, more so than other GT cars because of the rawness of it. Interesting thought nevertheless

Low mileage, original 996 GT3s are already fetching in the 90k - 100k range. Pretty valuable already in my book. They didn't build too many of them and the majority seem to have been driven & tracked.

^ So true. There are only handful of 996 GT3 in Victoria and Vancouver BC. Most have been tracked and are silver or dark grey. Even a clean one that came up for sale recently and passed between two dealers before selling had been reverted back to stock.

One here has duct tape on cloth euro buckets and a hole in the rear bumper. They had extra jerry cans in the back when I saw it at Cars and Coffee. A true track rat.

There is a sub 10,000 mile 996 GT3 on Rennlist and here that's been asking $90k. I don't think its sold yet.
