Just a quick post about my recent Vertex 911 3.2 rebuild for anyone interested. Quick Backstory - I purchased a 1987 911 from a Porsche dealer in Pittsburgh in February. I decided to forego a PPI
because I was trading out of a 928 and after taking delivery decided to embark on an engine reseal and clutch job. The car was in much worse shape than the dealer had let on...big surprise. As many on the forum have also experienced, I ran into some major issues (broken head studs...cough,cough). Long story short, I decided to go with Vertex for an engine rebuild. They did a complete rebuild and replaced the pistons/cylinders. I rebuilt and/or restored everything else. Vertex did a fantastic job. I couldn't believe it was the same motor when I got it back. Lead time was around 3 weeks and could not have been easier. Everything went back into the car last weekend and it is running perfectly. Dare I say, no leaks. ![]() ![]() ![]()

$15k in the rebuild/ $45k in the car. Typical air-cooled: could be worth $8, could be worth $80k. Fun car to work on and drive.
