Proper asking price for a strong 3.2L Carrera Engine?
Hi all,
I've been toying with swapping in a 993 Varioram engine for my current 3.2L in the car now. I have a 1987 3.2L Carrera. Except, the engine in it now is a 3.2L from a 1989 car. As per the previous owner (and documentation somewhere), he swapped in this engine when it was at 75k miles. It now has 25k more miles than when he swapped it in, so it's sitting at a true and even 100k miles. This particular engine runs VERY STRONG. During my ownership, I've had it serviced and all maintenance taken care of down here in Orange County, to the tune of $4k in receipts. I'm very particular about maintenance and this car (engine included) gets the proper attention. Now, with the documentation documentation I have, the fact that it is still in the car, can be tested, driven, and blessed, what is a reasonable asking price for it? Things that have been attended to in the last 8 months between very prominent OC independent Porsche mechanics: -Cap, Rotor, plugs, wires, valve adjustment, all fuel lines, drive belts, enlarged throttle body, Custom Steve Wong Chip, MAF (tuned by Steve W.), ECU completely rebuilt, valve cover gaskets, etc. Ideally, I'd like to sell it complete, minus trans. This will include all induction, exhaust, and everything in between. It really is a fantastic engine pushing 215whp and plenty of torque as well. I think it would be perfectly suited for a long hood hot rod. I'd only consider selling this to offset the 3.6L swap costs.
