Not sure how the orange s h!tgibbon got dragged into this, but back to the market.
I'm seeing super strong prices on the best cars now, as I have for the past 3-4 years. But if the mix of cars on the market is diluted with weak, needy cars, then overall, prices are lower. Give me a good longitudinal study any day: a specific 911SC in unchanged condition priced to market over a 10-year period. I'm betting that car's price isn't 'trending down.'

I can't provide a carefully recorded study of it's market value, but the purchase offers I've received, over the years, have gone no-where but up! Not soaring, at any particular time; not up and then down, just up. I get offers on the car almost ever year. And, usually several seemingly legitimate offers (from flippers) in the spring. Two things have always amused me. The first is how the offers seem to rise incrementally each year. I haven't charted it, but I suspect it would be an upward curve. The second is when I get offers from several 'local dealers' (one year I had four) their numbers are pretty close and seem to include the same sum added to bait me. In other words, the people who approach me, seem to know their business pretty well. Of course, this is all from memory, but it reflects the gist of my experience. Over the years I haven't been approached by private individuals wanting to make a wild bid on their dream car. And I haven't been approached by guys throwing 'low-balls.' I've always found this annual incremental march of my cars value intriguing. But lastly, I have to say that I don't like it! Like others, I miss the days when these cars were affordable to many more guys looking to get involved in and contribute to the hobby. Those days when I could have purchased a second 911, just to mod and have fun with. That's now out of my reach. Sorry for such a long response to simply say that I agree with your assessment.

You must be pretty daft for me to come back after a couple of years just to flirt...

The irony of a criticism about misusing 'proper English' incorporating an "its/it's" error is precious.

Buyers are getting wiser and needy cars are priced accordingly as are no need cars.

Difference between 930
Below is why I like the 1978-79 930 the best of there 15 history
76-85 - handcrafted, welded (vs. stamped) fender flares 76-79 - no electronic gizmos (no power seats, power locks, ABS, etc.) 76-79 - Jekyll & Hyde turbo kick, with a waste Gate spring set at 0.8 bars 76-79 - 3-spoke leather steering wheel 78-79 - 3.3 liter, intercooler, more power and larger fuel head than 86-89s 78-79 - heavier than the 76-77 but lighter than the 86-89’s 78-79 - leather dash 79 - only year Porsche won Le Mans with a RSR Group 5, 935 (homologated 930) 79 - last year of the true “930” VIN 78-79 - only 2 years Porsche built a Turbo with a Intercooler but no Catalytic Converter. After 1979 the turbo did not pass US NITSA emissions. 78-83 - are a bit more torquier then other years. |

Oops forgot the brakes
Other features of this rare car: 78-79 – Front, cross-drilled floating rotors derived from the Porsche 917 race cars. These brakes were so exotic, expensive and rare, the Porsche 911 Turbo factory manual recommended upgrading to the post-1980 930 single piece front rotors if they ever needed replaced (Porsche probably had few replacements in stock). When my brakes were acting up in 2006, I almost made this mistake but decided to keep the original floating rotors on the fronts (against the recommendation of the Porsche+Audi dealer at the time). |

not to be uber technical but if we are only referring to 930's both the seats and snorkels were available starting in 75 otherwise starting in 74 911 for both I believe
