I don’t deny being a dick in the past. But when we let bygones be bygones and try to move on... well, you didn’t.

Your memory is skewed. I wish you the best but... truth is I saw you treating someone else like you treated me in the past and it pricked a nerve. You and I have never agreed to much, nor for that matter on anything. Yes, I offered to buy you a beer in the past and IIRC I was scoffed at. I stopped posting on here because it was a large waste of my time. However, I do periodically read the forum and I did post when someone who had bought my 73T was misrepresenting it and some members ( Pmax I believe) even welcomed me back. I never came back here because you and a few of your mates believe you own this forum and it's content.
No worries really my time is limited and best spent on my family and other pursuits like flying perhaps a subie powered duct taped prayer mobile, or teaching law, etc. :-).
Take care.

Welcome back.

Hope you and MM bury whatever hatchet (?) there was.

End of the day, just hobbyists sharing a common passion. Don't take online rants too seriously, ask Raw', he knows that all too well

Your memory and reading comprehension both are lacking. Robert and I have had a tit for tat much like you and I did. I don’t own this place nor feel any entitlement to it. Sorry to hear you haven’t moved on. You shouldn’t give two shytes what I think about you or your cars or your plane or anything for that matter. Just like I don’t care what you think of me. I know who I am and it doesn’t depend on your opinion. All the best to you, mate.

76-85 - handcrafted, welded (vs. stamped) fender flares
76-79 - no electronic gizmos (no power seats, power locks, ABS, etc.)
76-79 - Jekyll & Hyde turbo kick, with a waste Gate spring set at 0.8 bars
76-79 - 3-spoke leather steering wheel
78-79 - 3.3 liter, intercooler, more power and larger fuel head than 86-89s
78-79 - heavier than the 76-77 but lighter than the 86-89’s
78-79 - leather dash
79 - only year Porsche won Le Mans with a RSR Group 5, 935 (homologated
930)
79 - last year of the true “930” VIN
78-79 - only 2 years Porsche built a Turbo with a Intercooler but no Catalytic
Converter. After 1979 the turbo did not pass US NITSA emissions.
78-83 - are a bit more torquier then other years.
Just to add a little bit of fun reality to the above :

1) All years utilized the same turbocharger (the horrendous, 3K 3LDZ) and ignition system (same fuel system, too, except for the later Lambda fuel head that does not affect acceleration), so they all have the same, shiity, "Jekyll/Hyde" throttle response in shiity, stock trim.

2) Where do you get the "more power" than later numbers figure? Nothing about the 78-79s would indicate superior power over the later models, and in fact, the thermal reactors, and accompanying atrocious turbocharger plumbing (much improved in later years) would indicate inferior engine performance.

3) The non-Lambda fuel head of the earlier years is not bigger - the metal fuel lines to the injectors are, but the smaller lines on the later years have been dyno proven to not choke fuel supply. That fuel head is made of cast iron (susceptible to rust, both inside and out), whereas the Lambda head is cast aluminum, and the iron head uses a metal diaphragm that is known to become dempled in the event of fuel pressure spikes, where the rubber alloy diaphragm in the Lambda head does not dimple (it can degrade over time, however, and would need to be replaced - much easier to re-seal, in that event, than the metal version).

The cast iron head flows a little more fuel in stock form, but the Lambda head can be modified to outflow the iron head, regardless of mods done to the iron version (dyno proven).

4) 78-79 did not have cats, but they did have thermal reactors - which do you think is more of a performance and engine longevity detriment, and which is easier for an owner to change if he/she/it feels like it?

5) Not so, about the "true 930 VIN" - the later 80s vins have the "930" designation in about the middle of the number sequence, and the "0" is replace with an "X" - an "X" is far cooler than a "0".

6) Where do you get the "more torquier" idea? The build details say otherwise (especially the already mentioned turbocharger plumbing).

Now there's the Matt I know and well don't like so much. The attitude is still there, great. My memory and reading comprehension are just fine, thanks. Did you graduate from Berkeley or just smoke a lot of dope there?
You keep swimming round and round in the same lil pond and pooping where you sleep. I'll peer in and every now and then if I like..or not.

Almost exactly 3 years later, and my position hasn't changed one bit. I absolutely did scoff at your offer, for the same reason I challenged Robert's remarks about my health, they weren't sincere. You came back as if you never left, talking trash.

Curious question: why wouldn't this personal discussion be better served in a private message?

Seems tedious to the two of you and certainly (IMO) is tedious to the "lil' pond".

I’ve said my peace. Sure, it would be better served privately, but he wanted to call me out I guess.

Ya see truth is I offered an a hole an olive branch somewhere in the past and he scoffed, so no more. Once an a hole always an a hole I guess, no matter.

OK , back on point the 89 G50 with 66k that ends in 17 hrs on BaT. If that car is bid to low 30's that ought to give y'all a fair indication where the air cooled market is. Damn right it has cooled IMO.

And Matt, from here on I'll just scoff at your stupid post privately just like I have for the last few years but when you start treating other members like shyte, darn right I'll call you out. No need for it, it ain't your pond, 15000 plus worthless posts or not. You can PM if you like cupcake but you won't like what I have to say.

Sub 100K miles with a $10K top end overhaul in 2017 and didn't crack $30K.

I think that car is very questionable. It looks like crap to me. A 20 footer, and I doubt the mileage.

Edit - I’m referring to the 66k one on BAT closing tomorrow.

I somewhat agree but Well I am looking at, it's an 1989, has sports seats, a G 50 car , 3.2 and not all that crappy. its barely bid to the value of the parts right now. a year or two ago the bid would be much higher IMO.
