Educate me on 964s
Before I plummet down the google hole.
Ok for full disclosure I looked only because it’s green, and I have a mild obsession with green porkers. https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/1028265-1990-porsche-911-c4-widebody-turbo-g50-5-speed-recaro-rstrada-build-custom-rotiforms.html Did the C4 and the turbo use the same drivetrain, or is this a grenade in green livery? Just curious - I t’s way more than I’d want to pay given you can get a 930 for that sort of $. |

Like you I am a sucker for green 911's, and like you I would never buy that car for a price anywhere near what they want.

Those guys get the most interesting cars. I always feel like if I had a Porsche sales shop and just bought cars that I thought were cool it would mirror this place.

The seller, Real Muscle Car Miami, doesn't have the best reputation but they flip a ton of cars. They bought a 993 C2S right out from under me in my own backyard. Having said that, the engine was built by a very good shop, Rstrada in the LA area. Rstrada is a high end shop and I've personally dealt with them. If you're serious about the car, you should call Rstrada and talk with the owner, Arling. He's a real solid guy and I'm sure he knows a lot about this car.

Oh I wasn’t that interested. As I said the attraction was the color.
That then got me wondering if it was just an engine swap or if the rest of the drivetrain was up to snuff and since 964s aren’t my chosen specialist subject I figured I’d ask. |

That car gives me wood. It’s a great combo of Parts. I think it’s $20-25k overpriced though. I bet the owner isn’t much over $50k into it.

$50 grand? You couldn't build that car for $50 grand. Finding a 964 coupe, sourcing the motor and doing the body work would be a fortune.

When do you think it was built? I’d be really interested in seeing all those receipts. I banking on it being old enough a C4 could be had for $15k. It would cost a whole lot more to do it today. I haven’t dug into the car at all, I just doesn’t strike me as a bran new build.

I agree with both of you. It’s way overpriced at 90k for what it is, yet if you tried to build that same car today it’d cost a pretty penny to do so. Let’s not forget how many miles it has, it’s got almost 150k miles! That’s a ton for a turbo. You can buy numbers matching 930’s or 3.3 turbo 964’s for way less money than 90k if they had that many miles on them. So why is a non numbers matching car with all sorts of other mods worth more money? It’s not. It’s a cool looking car, and probably a lot of fun to drive, but it’s grossly overpriced at 90k in my opinion.

Have no idea how many miles were on the chassis when the build was done. No idea what was done to refresh the suspension. Not sure how many miles are on the motor. Regardless of all of that you couldn't build the car for the asking price. Regardless of that fact it's still not worth the asking price. IMO

They don’t even mention if the suspension and brakes have been upgraded to turbo or not, though at that asking price you’d assume that they were. I doubt they put a low mileage engine into a high mileage car, my assumption is that it’s all high miles.

On the third pic down, there appears to be a reflection in the right rear wheel of a large (top to bottom) red caliper - maybe Big Reds on there (although I have no idea what brake calipers were typical for 964 Turbos)?

They don’t say much about the gearbox. Those G64s are persnickety. If the car was built right they would have $10-15k receipts on the gearbox. I bet it’s unrebuilt or is a “good used” replacement put in after a blow up. I’d msje the car 2wd immediately if it was mine.

Wow pretty close to what I would imagine being my dream 911.
Maybe set of H4 headlights and coupe different sets of wheels. |
