Here is the equivalent of someone posting "1988 G50 for sale"

A real estate for sale ad with the kitchen as the lead photo.
"Quartz countertops for sale. $330k"

G96 content. I drove this car 3 hours ago.

It’s raining burnt pine needles on us right now. Evacuation zone back within 5 mi of us, but it’s burning parallel to us. Hurricane force gusts and 50mph constant winds forecast for another 24 hours.

What difference does it make ?

Everyone has everyone else on the blocked list. /s

Another case in point ... I see M2's post but he can't see me. So what's the point ? Fire moves rapidly is all I will add. Don't underestimate it.

Finally I have inferred what PARF is. Last year i googled it and always thought it was something to do with car ins. I was embarrassed to ask. Now that I know it's a Pelican sub forum I'm relieved that I didn't know. Sounds like BARF from y'all's description. I barely have time for MP forum as it is.

I've always called fast food scarf and barf food. Like when you give a dog a piece of meat, it swallows without chewing, immediately looking at you for another. You order that Macker's set with the large fries and Coke. Down it goes tasty away, yet a while later it doesn't feel the same.

One German I met in CA back when I was doing that 73 RS advised me to get busy with 911s and sending them to Germany from the port. When I replied that most likely there were a lot of people doing that already, he replied back to me-- No! Americans are lazy! That's why they invented fast food!

Just letting you know, if you were quoting the bible speednme1, money isn't the root of all evil. Properly quoted, it's The Love of Money that is the root of all evil. Got a B.A. in Biblical Studies so I notice these things. Sorry to correct you Rey!

I was not quoting the bible, I was quoting what most say when associating money with evil. There are so many ways to say the same thing. Got a B.S. in Metaphor Studies so no need to correct me...just kidding Bernie..lol

I don’t have anyone blocked.

That is scary Matt. I know from your pictures you have a lot of pasture around you. But those embers float along way and start roof fires.
Not to give you a bad idea, but with the pasture and limited trees in your pictures I’d stay behind and put out any embers that landed on the roof.

Unless that green grass is all brown like CA. Then fire up the Porsche and start clearing.

Good morning all. I watched the fire dance on the ridge all night. It’s gonna be a long day. I’m smoking a pork belly and a rack of ribs while we gather some things and wait and watch. Baby gotta eat.

Back “on topic”. I use FB. I actively manage it, and a lot of it is the new groups that have come to replace car forums. I don’t just sit and watch my feed. I navigate it and see what I want. I don’t get any news or political stuff there. Again, I actively seek that when I want it outside of social media.

Anyway, I thought it funny that my FB memories showed me that I posted this video on this Day a few years back. It’s basically another version of the social dilemma.

Why would one poster block another?

i blocked someone years ago and it was really ineffective with my lack of discipline cause it still shows that a post was made by the blocked member, you just do not see the post. my curiosity would get the best of me and id end up looking. i kept the block for less than a couple weeks.

with sweetstump it's to maintain his membership is my best guess. his lack of discipline and propensity to lash out with name calling and other rules infraction has gotten him banned for periods in the past. he can not stand anyone questioning his genius and does not have the tools to effectively handle it if someone does.

regarding M2's possible blocking of seanie-max? sean is just a troll here and i suspect many grow weary of his "act" and some just want him to go away. once via PM i asked him why he tried to play the clown here in the MPF, but was all serious, non clown in the tech forum and he got all butt hurt when i called him chief two faces... sean's a child in man's clothes.

Everyone like you. You’ve never had a stalker or personal troll. It gets really old and tired after a while. Hiding their posts significantly improves the signal to noise ratio. Remember brisboats? That dude had a major hard on for me. And with someone like pmax, who constantly posts pictures I’d rather not see, it just cleans up the whole experience.

I’ve even gone so far, on occasion, as to suggest that people who are bothered by me should just hide my posts. I think I suggested that to Robertmark once.

If it was me Matt, I didn't see it. I don't come around too often due to all the political drama. Politicians don't care about me, so I don't live my life discussing them. Good luck on the fire front. I've been hit by Tornado's, and its no fun.

Maybe it was someone else. You and I had words a few times, but I hope we put that behind us. Thanks for your thoughts.

The winds are nuts but nothing burning my way. They had an ember started fire jump the lines in the last hour but it’s way north of us. Just waiting and watching really. And watching Petit LeMans. Go Porsche. 2&3 in GTLM after 4 hours.

What words, lol. I feel for you, and anyone who has to watch a fire move in on them. In 2013 I watched a Tornado drop from the sky and tear up a couple of my properties. Then in 2015 another one came through taking almost the exact same path. First you suffer the damage, then you suffer the insurance adjusters.

M2, how's the fire situation with regard to the M2 family, dogs, cats, and hogs homestead?

Ditto Matt, how are y’all?

Matt Monson 10-19-2020 05:32 AM

Morning all. We are holding our ground. They lifted the mandatory evacuation for our property (which I ignored) around noon yesterday. It's back to voluntary as we got a single cold rainy day with “lower” winds. I use quotes because it was 25mph instead of 50+. But it was a chance for them to shore up some fire lines.

It froze again last night. Good for the fires but our second night with no gas or heat. It’s under 60 in the House this morning. I brewed coffee on the back porch last night knowing how cold it would be the morning.

Picture is the whole burn, and the red is all new in the last 72 hours. We are just past the lower right corner of the burn. That’s 205k acres with the red being around 75k of them.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1603113913.jpg

That property in Costa Rica is looking better and better. Anyone wanna buy my business? Second shot is standing in my road Saturday night as my favorite park burned. That’s 5 mi from us, and still The closest it’s gotten to us yet.

I think Matt and family have done a runner. In Assie or Kiwi lingo that means running from the cops! Probably evacuation order, but I wouldn't worry too much. He's pretty smart and knows what he's doing in any event.

NYNick 10-19-2020 07:50 AM

Matt,
It's not like you don't have your head screwed on properly, so I won't try to discourage your decision or the process. I will urge you to try it before committing, grass being greener and all that.

Long ago, a few friends of my father sold their homes and moved everything to another, warmer location, eg Florida. After living there full time for a while, they discovered they really didn't like it full time, or even all that much and began looking into coming back to where they had been.

Meanwhile, the RE market and life in general had moved on and they couldn't afford to come back.

FYI

speednme1 10-19-2020 08:31 AM

I wish you and your family well Matt.

Matt Monson 10-19-2020 08:48 AM

Thanks for the thoughts guys. Nick, I’m not completely serious. Yes, I have a handshake deal to buy the land. But it doesn’t even have a building on it. Even if it did, I have two small children. They will be raised in America. I’m not hauling them off to Costa Rica.

However we are going to sell our house and move here within the States and if I got a serious and real offer on my business I would sell it today and walk away. It can be purchased with or without the factory as part of the deal. Dead serious about that.

Funny (not funny) how health scares/issues sharpens one's focus. I wish you all the best Matt. You clearly have your priorities (the girls) in the proper order.

One of the best things I ever did was sell my businesses.

Humidity is not for everyone I can say, never having experienced it growing up in NV. Landing in Dallas at 19 years old I wanted to die!! After 4 years there I got used to it. Where I've lived now for 30 years I am even liking it at times. One thing I like is sweating out all the toxins. It's good to sweat and drink some ice cold green tea in summer by the liter. Just my got used to it opinion. Dry is good too and quite pleasurable everyone knows.

South Carolina is on our visit lists when we can travel again.

juanbenae 10-20-2020 07:38 AM

the guy i bought my place from went to SC as well.

Matt Monson 10-20-2020 09:21 AM

I got gas!!!

My auntie who is selling me the costs rican property also has an acre for sale on Lake Marion, SC. So you're saying I should buy it too?

matt930s 10-20-2020 04:17 PM

June, July and August are brutal...Rest of the year is mild....

Lake Marion is beautiful (and huge)...that area puts you within 45 min to Charleston (and beaches), 3.5 hrs to Jax, 3 hrs to Charlotte and Blue Ridge parkway....great area.

matt930s 10-20-2020 04:24 PM

Here is a drone shot I took at Edisto Beach few weeks ago...
