Looked into this for one of our cars - check out Fox Auto Transport, they came in as the least expensive. We were looking at transporting an SUV from the east coast to LA and they quoted $1149; you may be able to negotiate a bit. Hope this helps you out a bit.

I recently had a car shipped covered from North Carolina to Santa Cruz (SF Bay Area) for $1400 and was quoted $900 for open trailer. Porsche Greensboro arranged it through Pirgos Trans Inc., Elk Grove Il., although I believe they're just brokers. Smooth transaction and accommodating driver.

Have you tried uShip? I’m not sure if they transport cars but I can’t imagine they don’t and they’re great. You simply post what you want to ship and shippers will bid on it. If there are shippers already following a similar route with space on their truck, the rates can be very good.
