Palm Springs

It was just after 4 pm.The place had burritos and tacos for munchies that were great. When I drove down the one way street I noticed what looked like smoke from the bottom of the roof was actually a mister, swamp cooler type of thing.Walked in from the hot street and it was way cooler inside. Also I was with a very cute girl so there it is.

Singer Money

About 10 years ago I played in a golf outing at Reserva Conchal in Costa Rica. After the round we were having libations at the pool bar and a bunch of guys were bringing in a ton of music equipment.Turns out someone hired the Doobie Brothers to play for their birthday party that night.People who can do that are the ones that buy a singer car.Truly a doobie moment.

I was staying at the Fairfield in Mayakoba a few years ago and I looked up from my breakfast one morning to see Carlos Santana having breakfast. Same deal, flown in a play a party.

Fonda's Easy Rider remains a classic and when I saw it, it scared the hell out of folks who ventured in the south. The scene of that red neck in the pick up truck blowing Dennis Hopper away with the shotgun at close range on a southern highway (assumed Alabama or Georgia) was a stunner! The movie made its mark........................

Fonda and Hopper made a masterpiece

Saw him last year at the Boys Home in LA as he was the grand Marshall for the event , really a nice
all around kind of guy by the pictures and hand shaking he was doing..
Needless to say the impression Easy Rider made on me as a teenager was immense I think I skipped school as a preteen actually and was even living in Europe then so not an easy lift in itself !
Haha Bert

Read a few years ago that Peter Fonda made more money off of Easy Rider alone than his Dad made during his whole career. he and Hopper were working on a shoe string budget (Fonda's credit card), and writing the script as they filmed and under heavy drug influence.
1969 was the year that independent counter culture films rocked the industry. Even Midnight Cowboy, an X rated film, wont Oscar for best film in 1969.
McQueen's Les Mans which he financed thru his own film production company, and which he originally tried film with virtually no storyline at all except driving scenes, before the studio made him create a subplot with a love interest, would come out the following year and bankrupt his production company. Film stars back then were ready to roll the dice.

Despite the budget, it was the message in Easy Rider. It capitalized on the hippie drug culture (desert commune complete with nudity, lots of pot, passive peaceful community, etc) to rage and violence. And Fonda hit it on the head with the bad stuff happening in the south based on the late 60's. The last five minutes and the traumatic ending sealed the deal on its great success.

I was 21 years old, just back from a year in Vietnam, finishing my final year in the Air Force at Scott AFB in Belleville, Illinois and in the midst of the great hippie movement. The movie was perfect for my generation and true to the times.
