Your Earliest Porsche picture

So the Muscle car thread gave me an idea and Bernie's relentless hounding reinforced it.

Post the earliest picture you have of you and your 1st Porsche or earliest Porsche. Date the picture if you can. You've gotta be in the pic.

Bernie and Adam have posted some pix. Not sure if it was their earliest.

Here's mine.

1971

I got nothing. My first Porsche was a 70T targa about 15 years ago. I rarely pose for pictures. I’m not even sure where any pictures of the car are.

^^ I lived in Bad Tolz 81-85; my dad was a Green Beret stationed at Flint Kaserne.

That’s awesome. You were right next to the Alps. My folks still talk about Garmisch and the volksmarch in that area. Pretty good Octoberfest in Munich also.

Ok, earliest personal Porsche, 75 911, bought it with a signature loan at 19, sucked up every last dollar I had keeping it running, but I was hooked.
2nd picture, 1st time getting greasy on a Porsche, Me, Matt, and "Bone" Jones. And no jokes about the hair, it was the 90's, don't judge.

Lovely car Nick! Actually, it's beautiful. Was it a 71 model, or just 71 pic?

My first Porsche was a 924. Maybe a year or so before the 71E. I might dig up a photo tomorrow. Up in the mountains with the 69E and the BTR Ruf at the moment. Not much I can to until I get back to the city.

Thanks Nick! Great to so that!

It’s clearly a 68, and he’s previously said it’s a 912.

Correct Matt. Bought it for $3000 with 30,000 miles.

Right. My ignorance is blaring on the years. I had a 912 in red ... gee it must have been 98'? I bought it in Reno for 4k maybe. I think it was a 67 but frankly don't remember. I do remember it blew a spark plug out the socket and my father came out nearly to Silver Springs and towed me back home. I traded that to hometown friend for a 55 Triumph motorcycle which I crated and brought back to Japan. The 912 wasn't in my life long enough to cherish. I do remember how smooth it cruised with the 5 speed and 4 wheel disc brakes.

No, you weren't nuts. No guts no glory one could say. Your nuts may have been in play though, I don't know, while thinking about all the trim you would score when finished? The hair line looks good. It's a little high though, and widow's peaks accentuating. Some X-tian comedian who was completely bald said once -- All you guys with hair, I want to tell you something. We are all given so many hormones in life, If you want to grow hair with yours, THAT'S YOUR BUSINESS!! Compliments of Anthony Campolo.

Don't worry, the hair came back.

So far Fred is winning with a pic from 1970. If he can come up with that 1969 pic, he'll be winning some more.

Christmas, 1976. This is the Porsche that led me to state, on my 4th birthday in 1978, that I was going to "save my pennies and buy a Porsche", which is what led to my buying my SC in 2015.

Nick told me I was being no fun not posting pics, so here you go.

I got the AFX Watkins Glen slotcar track for Christmas 1976. I still have it. The 3rd Ferrari in the picture is original to the kit. All the rest I bought as I got into it. We used to stay up all night pretending to run 24 hour races and competing at the local toystore that had a track. I think I won that Tyco Marlborro McClaren at a competition one weekend. That Ferrari 512 has rare earth magnets in it and goes like stink.

The pic of me is about the same age. I just got that in the mail recently from my mum because she sent a copy of the Winnie the Pooh book for my daughter's 7th birthday.

I always had the passion. Our next door neighbor had a white 914-6 in the mid 70s. He used to take me on laps around our townhouse complex in it. We had a '77 VW camper and a '79 Rabbit. Dad bought a '63 Beetle new in '63. He almost bought a 944 when they first came out, but bought an RX7 instead. That became my first car when I graduated high school. I sold it about a year later to pay part of my college expenses. I didn't own a car again until I was 25.

I used to go out to Sears Point and Laguna Seca with my best friend in the 80s, to watch his dad vintage raced 60s Ferraris, and later to watch IMSA Camel races. I was working for an luxury exotic auto-broker as a driver/detailer in 1988 when I swore I was going to own a Porsche by the time I was 25. I wanted to be a stock broker on Wall Street. I went to Cal and became a eco-hippy and spent my money on mountain bikes and skis and travel instead. That car I got when I was 25 was a 1985 Honda Accord I bought for $500. I drove it 228K mi until I rolled it along the Walker River when I fell asleep at the wheel on my way to go ice climbing at Lee Vining. But you all have already heard that story before...
