Anyone going to Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale? 918 Spyder on the block

Anyone here going to the 2020 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction? I was checking out the docket for Porsche's and there is a 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder up for auction!!!

If you're going, I would love to meet up with some fellow Pelican guys while at the show.

Brian

No harm, but way off on some of your estimates. 89 speedsters are no longer bringing in 250k. I wish they would again. The twin grill blue 356 roadster is uber rare. I believe that's the one which was on ebay with a buy it now price of $399k. It should go for North of $275k in this market. Plus, Barrett Jackson is not the place to auction a Porsche. IMO

Hey Brian while I was watching you go down the list, I gave it my guess, then heard yours. On many of them I think we're pretty spot on. Enjoy the auction, I'm sure you'll have a great time!!!

Brian,

I think your going to be surprised by how cheap some of those 996 actually go for.... Agree the speedsters are way down in price. Like where your head was at on that 9K mile 89 Carrera Coupe but I would not be surprised to see that do $125K.

I am suppose to go but stuff keeps piling up at work. I may sneak over for a couple early days.

Have Fun.

Hey Brian,

Think you were at least 40k low on the 993 Twin Turbo's. Maybe I'm way off but the asking prices are considerably higher. I'd love a low mileage example for $85,000

Never seen so many crappy Porsche at a auction like this...996 cars are very common, most to me are $25,000 or less, actually still going south. Low miles on these cars who cares, the Cabs cars were popular in the 996, really a unvalued car, but hey common, this era will take forever to amount to anything only the turbo and GT3 cars and they are not selling.

I been to the auction in Scottsdale, a real party, not anything more, guys get out there for TV and to drink Tito’s Vodka, very odd group of buyers frankly, many baby boomers trying to by their 80’s poster car.

You must look at these auctions really not as a true benchmark of prices, over played out with Huge commissions

Thanks for talking about it, because at times kinda interesting

Stay home

I am headed to Scottsdale but I no longer attend the Barrett Jackson auction. It is a total show and is a Circus. 20 years ago it was really fun. Now i go to the Gooding, RM and Russo and Steele auctions. Much better cars and venues.

Agree on the Barrett thumbs down. Going to Goodings tomorrow and Saturday also Russo on Saturday, it’s more like Barrett in the good ole days. Was at Bonhams yesterday. Ouch! Prices were soft, actually more like runny eggs. 76 930 made a feeble 75k ugh! Glad I do it for the love of it and not the money

I think the 918 was a no sale at 900k...........
I just skipped thru the TV coverage but prices seemed to be holding up.
Lots of 100k+ cars on Saturday and lots of crazy people.
The way I look at it, the higher the market the easier mine will be to sell when I'm ready.
