Hey looking to recover from a wrong purchase.
Purchased a 911/01 engine with MFI which I thought was a 72 my bad.

The good

The engine is a 70E motor complete.
Updated tensioners no timing chain covers.
motor turns over freely.
Tin complete

The Bad
73T plastic stacks
serial number looks to be removed.
No air filter housing.

Additional parts
good set of heat exchangers
bursch muffler
915 transmission disassembled for inspection no serial number again.
looks complete

engine stand.

Opinions on value or offers. I'm in Toronto,

Thanks

I asked this question a while back about the 70e engine in my 75. Mine is on Weber 40,, so also lacks the original MfI. I was told around $6500 for the longblock and as high as&8k with the Weber’s and linkages.

That’s funny Matt; I also have a 70 E motor with triple Weber’s. It actually came in my 69E. It’s on a shelf now, but it didn’t smoke or leak a drop of oil when I pulled it.

They are stout little motors and were actually quicker off the line than the S’s. I believe my motor number ends in 0750.

I figure $6-7 k for OP’s core. Possible concern with missing SN.

This motor does have the MFI and I also have the correct velocity stacks to remove the bitter taste of missing numbers. The MFI alone is 6k, I have purchased a set from this site!
Thanks for the feedback.

MFI setups have not been selling in that range as of late. We've had a couple setups in the last year and they tend to bring $2000-3000.

Sorry about that, but it's dangerous to work off old information.

^this. Taking a loss hurts but having something sit because it’s way overpriced doesn’t even get you some money back.

I’m gonna take a loss on my RS P&C set because the dollar got stronger against the euro and now they retail for less than my 3-4 year old wholesale purchase.

It's like when you have a part that is highly valued and guys hold out for every last dollar, then the repro comes out and your part is worth half. Like 356A glass rear reflectors, they were selling for $1200 a pair, we sold them as fast as we found them. A perfect repro came out, they are now worth about $500. I know guys who wanted $1500 for their pair. Or 16" Pre-A rims, I was getting $1000-1500 a wheel, sold them all. Perfect repro came out for $399, real ones are worth about $600-800 now and don't sell very fast.
Don't get me started on 911 door pockets.
Hold out for top dollar at your own peril.

I like nearly being a monopoly in my parts business. The market is price sensitive, so I can't just price things wherever I want, but when costs change, I can change my price. It's not because someone else's price put me there.

We took a hit recently on 356 Lit, the demand is falling and we had a bunch. It still sells but at much lower prices, and we were holding the bag.

Your buddy down in Elmsford has literally file cabinets chock full of literature. I've been through them and it's jaw dropping.

Good luck getting him to sell anything.

Ok I’ll going to look at thee plus!
I’m looking for a MFI set up for a 1970S so Adam do you have any for the $2500-3000 mark?
I may as well try and get some parts while the market has changed.
Let me know if anyone has any available. We could do a trade as well. Open to offers have a set 46IDA available for trades if that helps.
Thanks again for the help
