Future market for 981s?

Hey guys,

I'm currently leasing my 981 and weighing if I should buy it or move on to another car.

Since the 2016 981s are the last of the flat sixes, do you believe there will be any measurable appreciation of the cars (like a scaled down version of the 993) or will they continue to depreciate like normal cars?cbd products

Maybe some day in the far off future they could have some slightly additional appeal but they made a massive amount of them. I wouldn't expect any "appreciation" in the price for a long long time. However eventually the "depreciation" slows.

Normal car. Unless you can finance it at a really low apr and just love the car, turn it in. There’s no investment value to it.

It will be just a "used car" for a long time.

Is future value the only reason to keep it?

If you like the car why replace it with something different?

If you don't like it, sure, get something different.

Don't you know, every car decision is now an "investment" decision. It doesnt matter what you like or dont like.

The world is not black or white to many, many factors play into a car purchase for most people. 'exit plan' or "how do I get out of it" is one, call it "investment" or "resalability" or "how much of a loss will i take?"
That is why there is this 'Porsche Marketplace Discussion"
So people could ask these question and maybe find some valid opinions.
If some one has the disposable income to buy what ever they fancy, cost and loss be D__med. then what are they browsing the 'Porsche Market Place'?

You make a good point but the original poster asked about appreciation. It's a contemporary Porsche which is not a special or rare model. It's going down like all contemporary cars.

Sorry but your response makes no sense, unless you completely ignore the context of this thread. Nothing in my statement regards your listed scenarios, just the current climate of people asking "how much should I expect to make on my 'investment grade' 997 if I only put 5k miles a year on it."

And I didn't realize that you are precluded from the porsche marketplace discussion if you are rich. What is the NW cutoff where I stop caring about money?

Really? 'Market place'? "Not an investment" is still a 'market place' question and response.
If people only look at cars for fun? then what are they doing here?
Your response made no sense to me, here.

Sarcasm is hard.

Im sorry, what are you even talking about? lol My response and your statements are not mutually exclusive.

One can lament the idea that a late model vehicle is somehow expected to appreciate and acknowledge there are vehicles in the world that actually will appreciate at the same time.

In general, the residual value of a leased car from 2-3 years ago will be too high in today's market. Turn it in at the end of the lease, but if you like the 981, buy another at market price. There have been very few on the market, because people weren't letting them go. But it's a different market for at least the next 3-4 months.
