Thanks. I've been doing something ever since the lockdowns started. I call it a food tithe. Every time I go grocery shopping I calculate 10% of what I spent and donate it to my local county food bank. They have been hammered with all this and there are lots of hungry people.

I can't wait until my crops start coming in. They accept fresh food donations and I'm going to be taking them boxes of tomatoes, squash, heads of lettuce, beets, etc. I get enough eggs that I can also give them 1-2 dozen eggs a week.

After living in Berkeley and Oakland for nearly 20 years, I saw the food desert first hand. You had to drive to a grocery store unless you lived in a nice neighborhood. And many poor people don't have cars. I was involved in community gardens back there and now that I have my own land, I want to help. I calculated it once, and I save $1000-2000 a year on my own personal groceries with what I grow. Now that I can easily grow way more than I could ever eat without much extra effort at all, I'm going to do my part to help. It's the human thing to do.

I can’t think of one case that can conclusively be called call “racism”. Police reform is fine and probably warranted.

I lost 3 pounds of water weight in approximately 7 hours today, despite thinking I was drinking a lot (obviously not enough) - fuukin brutal way to function. I've been contemplating shifting my work schedule to overnights, but the trouble there is the already high humidity goes nuts after dark (air feels downright gross), the heat doesn't come down much (often still in the 90s at midnight and later), and the bugs go apeshiit since they are attracted to the hanger lights. The positive is that you don't have acetylene torch sun to deal with.

At least my Mighty Meatlocker Turbo's a/c system continues to hang icicles on all yer parts, despite the extreme heat, and the big ballz engine laughs at the added weight of the components and the 5-7 hp loss when the compressor clutch is engaged (all the time, here)!

Thanks Rey. And while I lead with Floyd, the options are broad. Food banks don’t care what color a man is. ACLU fights for all people’s rights. I didn’t post the update here, but in FB I added direct donations to ANY business owner who had property damage or looting. To me it’s all about sharing the love during a troubling time and this guy just got triggered by George’s face.

And to be honest about it I’m ok with that. I grew up color blind. But we’ve reached a point where me not being a racist isn’t enough. Me, and other white people of privilege, need to see how the life experience of POC is different.

Eddie Glaude is a Harvard professor. He is a man of privilege. He said this following Floyd’s services and it struck a cord. I will never know that fear. And because of that I will also never know the courage either. I cannot sympathize because I can’t experience it. But I can care and say,”I see you and I too want better for you.”
