Value of aluminum 911R door

I bought a lightweight body kit a few years ago to put on a project car of mine. I have since sold the car and was about to list the body kit and noticed the drivers door is all aluminum. Could it be a real 911R door? What would it be worth? I saw a pair of aluminum doors sold here back in 2009 for $4k.

A pair of them would be brilliant! I always wanted a pair for some project I thought. Never came my way though. Early 2000s I had a 73 RS I brought back from Japan. Gary Topal at Factory Werks in Huntington Beach did the motor new for me. Drove it around OC and to Laguna Beach to meet a guy who helped me sell it. He also had a 73RS, but non matching motor, yet he had 959 alum doors on the car. That was when I got the idea.

I was wondering how you had it all those years and never knew til now? Didn't you ever pick it up? Surely if you did you could have noticed the weight difference? If there were a pair, did the other door go with the car you sold? Nonetheless, there must be someone out there who has one, looking for a matching partner. I hope you find him, and then don't sell cheap!

Best wishes,

That may have been the car they came off. They came off a 73 RS green with yellow accents, that had a 3.2 short stroke in it. I knew it was aluminum, the passenger door I got with it was carbon fiber.

Interesting. t's been nearly 20 years since then. I cant remember the color of his car even. All I remember now is he had the doors in his living room. He did all his own paint work and the car was not all assembled. I do remember though RS it wasn't complete -- only a true RS chassy/body.

He introduced me to an expert on RS who flew down from Oregon, guy named Jeff. Car got sold and the guy in Laguna got 500 dollars from me.

You can buy repro aluminum door skins for $600 a side. Yours is a complete door so just a rough guess, but $1-1.5k???

Got to thinking. It wasn't Laguna Beach. I think I drove about an hour from Costa Mesa down the freeway. Not quite San Diego, but don't remember. Still don't remember his paint color. Could have been the same guy. Ask him if you know him if he remembers. Could be the same guy. He will remember my name and my car #101. He said though, he had 959 pair alum doors, unless he was fibbing.
