Ah yes, sadly no pop up headlights. Although I would argue that the pop up headlights goes against the lightweight mantra, the mechanism, headlight housing and motor add a significant amount of weight to the car.

Flachbau first. Lightweight is relative. They could easily build a modern 914 under 2500 lbs with modern materials.

If it looks anything like the render, I'm in.
That thing is sweet. |

Stop screwing around. That red piece looks more like a Panorama with early wheels. Flachbau was a different kettle of fish and certainly not to be compared with a 914.

Alright, there is love in my heart for the the 914 - 6, and I love the one you got. I remember the pic/color. I can't forget the custom decal on the rear end of the car. Matt once told me what a Bumble Bee was in detail. Though I was interested then, I quickly forgot. No experience on my part. Wish I had some, then I would probably be on the other side of the fence. Be that as it may, rest assured I'm just kidding about these like some here occasionally like to do. Should I mention names? Nah!

I dunno why, but every time I read the title of this thread this ding pops in my head. I had to listen to the album in the garage today to scratch that itch.

Isn't this Paul "Slant" Turbotoo Lowmiles et al character really Phillip Todd Haupt? And if it is him, how does a car that spectacular end up in the hands of someone so sketchy?? I've also seen it mysteriously travel the globe for years, photos being taken of it with the same patina as a Bigfoot snapshot, always being listed by people that never seemed to have possession of it. And now that it appears real, its destination ends up being this shady character's?? Bizarre...

I did mentioned if he wanted a good price for it I might consider selling in a package with 4 or so others as downsizing has been discussed with my son being I'll be 80 years next year. He responded he was not a dealer, which was the end of our email conversation till he sent a email about this car and a large photo file similar to the one posted. Thanks for the additional history of slant man's very rare 89 slant. I asked him if it was still original as built when new and if he has a COA as it has some unusual options. Have not seen the COA yet.
