Need help with an appraisal
Hello everybody, long time fan first time poster (to this forum). I'm looking to buy a 911 and have absolutely no idea what a fair price is for the car. Hours of searching have not turned up any hard purchase prices on anything like this (thank you to all those who erase the pricing on classified adds when the car sells, big help you are).
I need to keep this private for now. If anyone is interested in helping please email or call me using the info in my signature line below. Glad to pay you for your time and expertise, it is valuable! If I buy the car I will disclose all the info to you. Thank you!

you are critical of those editing prices out of adds and then are going to be all secretive about the car with the group here? strange approach.
with that said try techweenie, he acts as an agent for sales for both buyer and sellers.

my advice is to give a few context clues on what generation of 911 are you referring to and whether its a specialty car like a slant or historic race car? That way myself and everyone else can try to determine if we can be of any help. If its a short wheel base 911 I won't be of any help but if it's a 74-77 Carrera I may be.

Like I said in my post, I will fully disclose everything if I buy the car.
People can be creeps so you have to keep your cards close to the vest, sad but true. I'll contact techweenie and see what he comes up with. Thanks!

It only takes one. Don't think for a second that for every decent enthusiast participating on the boards that there aren't a dozen lurkers looking for leads. Guarantee if you describe a car in your area there will be several lurkers in your area who know exactly what car it is and who owns it. Learning the hard way sucks.

Deal is done.
As promised I will disclose the data point, for whatever value that has. There are a few flippers in my area that may have gone after this one had I let the cat out of the bag. I likely paid too much for the car but it was local, I really like the owner and what he did, and it is perfect for what I need it for which is exhaust system testing. Car in question is a 1973.5 911T CIS Targa, Sepia Brown with brown interior, 44K miles, 2 owners. Came with records, owner's manual and original license plate which is still mounted. Car sat for decades after a missed shift bent the valves. All that sitting took its toll. Body looks really bad and has some damaged areas along with a few spots of surface rust on the bumpers and fenders. Important part is the tub itself is solid, no rust anywhere. PO bought the car to make a Rat Rod out of it and contacted me early on for CIS assistance. Suspension is new, matching numbers 7R engine/915 trans just rebuilt. Entire fuel system brand new from the gas tank to the injectors. Interior is new high grade German weave with coco mats. Targa Top is new. Seats are not worn but the leather is on the hard side. Every bushing has been replaced making the car drive and shift very tight. OE Fuch wheels are 6&7x15 which I think is a bit unusual. New tires. The car runs really strong. This car is very endearing, I think I'll name it Yoo-hoo in reverence to the odd color. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sold for $44k, same as the mileage.

No nothing exotic but certainly something you don't often find for sale right in your own backyard. PO was quite gracious to allow me to thoroughly check out the car and do a PPI in my shop. Worth a few extra bucks to not buy something sight unseen 2000 miles away. These cars can be a fright pig when it comes to hidden rust. I'm already scheming plans to take it to the next level of Rat Rod. Loads of fun factor potential here. HUGE thanks to Techweenie and others who helped me hone in on a reasonable price range for this one.
