Opinion.....

https://www.beverlyhillscarclub.com/1978-porsche-911sc-targa-c-11592.htm

I realize this car is being sold by BHCC.

Let's eliminate BHCC from the discussion (possible?) and focus on the car......

What are the collective's observations as to what they see in the pictures....

They say an extremely desirable factory color. I have never seen a 911 that looked like a frog. Is it that desirable on color or is it just me. I see lots of frogs up in the mountains. Just sayin...

The right rear quarter panel and rear deck lid are a different shade of green from the rest of the panels. Probably an accident repair.

not just that, they all look different to me.....there are some photos of a paint thickness meter on the RR corner, hood, decklid and driver's door, so, one might assume the other panels have been painted.

The passengers side rocker looks sketchy, as does the exhaust wrapped (poorly) in what appears to be tin foil.....

I've seen worse, but not a place I would park $40k

my 78 SC did not have that speedo in place. was the KPH an option?

that color, which i like due to it's uniqueness is all over the map in regards to the shading/fading.

It’s a European import. Was KPH from the factory.

I’m on my phone. I’ll go look more lovely when I’m at my desk later.

did not see that in my quick look over of the add. if it does not have the EGR and air pump for emissions it's not fit for CA or CO i reckon.

This car IMO will need a thorough rebuild. The starting price is too high.

Lime Green Targa

Hi Macroni...I like it and apart from the mentioned smog-issues at least here in SoCal...I think this is/could be a pretty cool Targa...especially if you "plop" this interior in it but of course keep the cool inserts (as Fairview suggested) :

https://www.ez-bizwebs.com/3.4/index.php/911-green-interior

Yes a few color variations but seems to be pretty complete and "sound"...it might be better in person anyway...engine is an unknown factor (that's why you know Marco/TLG)

Tweek the ride height and away you go!... / Lars...

I think the color issues is caused by the light flooding they used. The hood has the same discoloration in certain views.

If this had a fresh trans and engine it would be priced right, as it is all I see is a future $30K bill at some point.

Not as nice as the 72S wide body but it certainly could be a fun car.....

Unique colors tend to drive premium prices. I think this is a rare and unique color and, despite the panel shade variation, presents well in the photos (certainly much better than the typical BHCC offering). If the mechanicals are in decent shape, I don't think the price is out of line, and the car could actually be a bargain at $40k

I like it. To me the color makes the car unique. Additionally, I’m not bothered at all by the color variations. Perfectly imperfect. No comment on the mechanicals,

I like that color combination but I prefer the odd period colors. I'd want a good independent inspection. It does look like those panels are different shades of that color. If the mechanicals are original and that mileage is accurate I'm guessing you are looking at some $'s for mechanical refresh in the near future unless it has been done.

For the guys who love the color, why do they? Is it because it's rare? Most likely it was a color that couldn't sell in the day and was discontinued. To love it for rarity now is okay, but please be honest and buy/drive it if you love it so much. I got a green toilet on 3rd floor of a split level concrete house designed by a dentist's architect. In 1988 they put pink tiles in 1st floor toilet room and the relatives who inherited the property stole the toilet before selling. We got rid of the pink tiles, re-tiled the room all ourselves and bought a new toilet.

The green toilet still remains on the 3rd floor. I sit on it still because I'm used to it. My plan is to change it out one day when I get time. One friend (Aussie) who has done up numerous houses once said years ago -- that is the ugliest toilet I've ever seen!
