Sale guidance on 87 3.2 Cab
I've listed my 144k mile original 3 owner here for a while with nothing. Posted to Rennlist and have a few interested parties - the most serious of which is from Germany and the potential buyer seems to check out as legit. I have an offer close to my asking, just looking for thoughts on current prices in this category ?
Thanks http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/1045852-87-911-3-2-cab-3-owner.html

Cabs are not desirable here in the US.. Don't ask me why. I think they give you everything you could ever want in a sports car. Plus, yours is a 3.2. Holy smokes! What a great car!
But there's an (dumb) anti-convertible pool of buyers out there for these cars. If it was a 356, you could add $100K to the price. SMH. Of course, your car has 144K miles on it. If you're good with the price, I'd tread carefully with the international transaction but take the money.

Thanks for the reply. Never understood lower value for Cabs either.
The buyer seems legit and I think this is good money for the car. BTW, do you drive on Route 6 through Bear Mtn in summers ? I've seen a silver/gray SC a few times - I drive through there regularly on my wat to Rt 17 towards Monticello

My car is hard to forget, but yes, I live pretty close to Bear Mtn. Don't go over there much though.
I've also owned a 996 C4 Cab, a 997 C4S Cab and a 997TT Cab. I like 'em. I'm pretty sure the disdain has to do with the 'boy racer' mentality, where everybody thinks they're race car drivers, coupes are lighter and handle better etc. Of course, people forget the 50's and 60's where they literally cut the tops of cars to make them lighter. Or they forget Porsche reinforced the Cab tubs later on to make the the chassis stronger. Not to even mention that Cabs are more expensive to purchase initially. Back in the day, you bought a coupe because you couldn't afford a convertible! Good luck with the sale. ![]()

i'm one of the "dumb" ones.
i don't like cabs. uglier than sin when the top is up. nasty sun exposure with the top down. a lose/lose situation. |

I'm a cab guy too Nick! I'm starting to realize how smart you are and experienced. Every time I read into your posts I realize that more and more. Your non cab car is well done as well. You got the look!
