Another Odd auction on Bat...

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-porsche-911s-12/

This was another odd auction.

Why does the collective think this 911S get stuck at $125,000.

Engine compartment needs to be detailed. Not up to snuff with the rest of the car.

I was thinking it would take $175K to buy it...Possibly the color just did not appeal to many. Plus the interior tho done to a high standard looked a little odd in color also. Can't fault the video tho...he had it humming.

Color change and interior customized. Both done very tastefully but perhaps someone wanting to spend big money would be looking for something original....

Being an import also makes it harder to verify its past, the records seem to start in 2014

Color change was taking it back to original. This was poorly worded in the write up.

this was a big problem. BaT writes the ads, and will revise based on the seller's preferences, to an extent....but it's a hassle, delays the listing and sometimes they don't want to make changes.

Still, this was poorly worded, the car was originally aubergine, then painted white at some point and then brought back to the way it left the factory...I believe....

a nice car, very desirable S, and a '72 is pretty special too.....based on early bidding I thought it would shoot past 200k, or get very, very close.

I love the interior of that car. I normally do not like lighter interiors but those seats look amazing. It makes me want to redo the interior of my car.

Wow, very poorly worded! I somehow missed the part about it being Aubergine from the factory. If that’s the case it was definitely way low compared to other S’s I’ve seen in that condition and color combo.

MiB bid it to $125,000.

John,
What did you see that made you shy away?

Nice repaint, but front fenders painted on car? Pop rivets on paint tag, shabby chrome and window frames.... who knows what other horrors lurk underneath. 200 photos but no photos of the typical problem areas.

What is the point of the Montana LLC ruse on a smog exempt car? One can guess and it is not good.

A lot of times the Montana LLC is to avoid paying taxes on it in your home state. What reason were you thinking of?

Nothing, really. Just nobody bid against me and I wasn't about to bid against myself. I certainly would have gone higher.

The only question for me is the interior. We know the inserts were not originally pepita but corduroy. And further questions have been raised about the light tan interior which is likely incorrect. That said, I think it's a solid car. I've spoken with the owner about getting a deal done and we'll see.
