what's the deal here?

seem like it's too good to be true or am i uninformed?

https://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/d/el-dorado-hills-2007-porsche-cayman-low/7269594566.html

starting to look around at different things and this stood out to me. an S, low miles and a decent color.

That is around the going rate, if not a little bit high.

That's what I thought. A little premium for mileage maybe, but definitely not some sort of crazy good deal.

an old racer buddy of mine had an S from about this era and said it was a really fun can to drive. i will keep an eye on it to see where it goes.

the one posted above from seattle CL is an add id seen before with the car being in SLO town. almost 3x the miles.

as i recall the IMS issues had been addressed by 07?

leaning more and more back to the porsche marque. will start to use this thread like im itchy-itza to throw out cars that interest me to see if the brain trust here can give me opinions if the cars are worth going to look at and are right for model, mileage and price. if you guys recall im waaay up in the mountains so going to see a car is quite the endeavor. i am looking at cayman S models quite a bit since this original post and will continue to do so.

always like the 993 model so with that said i present the following for your consideration. https://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/cto/d/san-carlos-1995-porsche-c2-6speed/7270788834.html
seems odd the seller has only had it for a few months, and claims it was dealer aquired. it is a private seller though. tell me what i should think of this low mile peach.... thanks in advance

That is a nice 993, however there is a difference between Boxster/Cayman and a 911. You need to figure out what you want. A 987 is way more modern than an air cooled 911. It is very comfortable for use as a daily driver, and IMHO, much more tossable

ive never driven a cayman, but as i note above a very competent driver friend said his S was a hoot to drive. ive driven a 993 once for about 10 miles and was far from able to put it through any sort of paces.

there is something to be said about a car like a 993 that will likely maintain it's value over a 987 or the like. i guess ive got to go drive one. if im driving that far a "good one" is as good of reason as any...

A 993 will always have a market and probably won’t drop much in value unless everything does.
A boxster or cayman is a more pleasant dd (as in the a/c works and it drives like a modern car) but it may lose value.

If you want to use it a lot get the modern one. If once a week get the old one is my 2c fwiw.

not a cab guy. ill drive the jeep if i want wind in my hair...

the 993 i linked sold for according to the seller $62K. seller would not call me and wanted my questions via text which i thought was a less than motivated seller. may have already been close to the sale he made at that point. was far from comfortable with the sellers and my interactions. couple things. renewed the CL add every couple days so it did not show the actual time the add was up to be documented. according to the add bought it from a dealer just last October and is already selling it, WTH? lastly working off memory here cause the add is now gone but him saying the carfax showed no accidents or track time. since when does carfax monitor and document track time on a car?

the current car that has peaked my interest. discuss please. price,
"special edition" 718? like the mileage.

I like that Cayman color combo. MT? Are you ok with the turbo 4 vs. the 6?

Those turbo 4s are super tunable. I'd hit it.

I've started shopping for what you and I discussed, an 08-14 WRX/STi hatch. Finding unmodified STis is hard. Plenty of stocker WRX. I found one with super highway miles for $6500! I've got a built block. I'm resisting the urge to modify wife's kid car.

Has anyone else noticed that the turbo 4 exhaust note is very "beetle"? The first time one went past me at low speed, I thought an old air cooled type 1 was going by. Can't hide those humble roots.

Yep, it's a NA six. Here's the chronology for Caymans:

987: 2006-2012
981: 2013-2015
718: 2016-pres

The 718 has the turbo 4.

yes, your build time line indicates that. wonder about what's up there?

just got off the phone with the seller and he will be going to the dealer today to get the options list on the car via vin number. was pretty bummed that it is a PDK model, although it does apparently have the x73 suspension package and the ability to go to a sport mode with the chrono package. he will be sending me the option list later today that i can post for your opinions. by the way, this was his wife's car since they acquired it according to him.

ive never driven a PDK car, or even a cayman for that matter so i may make the 2.5 hour drive to see it for no other reason than to do both. for those of you that may remember i was at one time fangio's stunt double so with that being said do you guys familiar with the PDK cars will i ultimately be disappointed in not getting a 6 speed if i end up getting a cayman? would value any insight on the driving experience with that option. this will not be a car that sees any traffic, but more along the lines of 85% sporting driving on the twisty local mountain roads.

PDK, please discuss.
