Shipping a whale tail
Hi all. Can anyone give advice on crating and shipping a whale tail and attached engine lid? Would be from San Diego to Portland, OR. I'm looking at purchasing one but the seller and I need some assistance/direction/advice! Thank you.

Put it on a pallet and build a cover to screw down over it.

I’ve had good luck with Greyhound (seats, speedster clam shell, bumpers, fenders etc)...

wrap it in a blanket and ship it in a wardrobe box with extra packing material. recently sent 3 that way including vintage tail and everything arrived in perfect condition through FedEX.

I might need the same soon all the way to East Asia. I would do crate, well packed and ocean freight. Cubic meter dimension is all that is important on shipping cost by boat. Probably not relevant though on domestic US freight.

I've shipped two Carrera tails by removing the rubber and splitting the shipment into two boxes.
Makes it easier to pack, into two smaller boxes that are each lighter. Both arrived safe and sound.
