911 vs boxster?
so Ive been looking at boxster s cars for sale, first off there arent a lot. next the 99 orices for an early 2000 model are about the same as a boxster s tip which is my desired model.
Sine i kept my 78 sc 27 years Id be really happy with the 911. So is it the ugly headlights that keep the prices down? Most have 80,00 miles or more, which means llittle to me if there are service records and car fax. for example 2001 coupe red/tan with 119k on it is listed at $19,000

I would look at the 996. I had a Boxster, it was a dedicated two seater which I felt was too space limiting for me. While 996s can be a bit of a plain jane, they have really gained in popularity and slowly increased in value due to their performance and very livable personalities. As you stated with service records and a car fax you should be able to find a very nice one for under $20,000.

I've owned both a 986 Boxster and a 996. Yes, the 996 is more car for the money. However, reading your post it sounds like what you really want is a Boxster. Let that drive your decision more than cost or value.
That said, I will also add that a 987 is miles ahead of a 986. I would suggest you expand your search a bit and look forward in the Boxster line. They kept making the tip through '09 and you can likely get one for around the same price as a nice 996 cab.

The easy solution is get a 966.2 that has the updated lights without the orange. Or buy a 996.1 and change the lenses. If you want a round lens you need to do a 997 conversion, including fenders. People do it. Not wise use of my money, but people do what they like.

The best of the breed is the C4S cabriolet, but I doubt they made many in a tip.

Baby got back. It's basically a turbo widebody with no fender vents and no turbo. The awd system is fantastic. And because it's the S they are more often well optioned with things like LSD, X51, and/or hardtop. But more than anything else its dat arse.

I had 2. One a C4 Cab and another C4S Cab both MT. Absolutely fantastic cars. I upgraded the suspension on the 03 and it handled like nothing I had ever driven. It was great in the snow/slush as well, just not the deep stuff. Tracked those cars also.
It was also the most gorgeous color I've ever owned. Dark Teal Metallic. Wow. What a color. Kinda regret trading that car in. Had a hardtop too. I wonder where it is?
