1972 911E Targa value
I purchased a 1972 911E Targa site unseen a few years ago from someone who was supposed to restore it....I decided to halt the project due to the much slower than promised timeline.
I would like to sell the project...any ideas what a project like this should sell for? Below is the description of the car/project...from the restorer... 1972 Porsche 911E Targa – Original Factory Color Sepia Brown. Car is a currently a rolling and disassembled project car. The car has its complete original suspension including original Fuchs still intact and under the car. When I purchased the 911E it was completely disassembled less the suspension and walnut blasted. Supporting brackets were professionally made by the body and metal shop to support the Targa gap during metal replacement and restoration. Metal was purchased from Restoration Design and several major panels have been replaced by Brosseau’s Coachworks in Oregon City Oregon, including the floor pans, tunnel repair, rear partial shelf, and more. The windshield had several rock chips, so it was disposed of when the car was disassembled, however the rest of the glass is there including a nice original rear Targa glass. There are new rear window moldings included. The bulk of the original interior is there, but please plan on a full restoration. Numbers matching MFI engine that has been disassembled, cleaned and ready for reassembly. Most of the main engine parts are included with the car ( heads, cam tower, oil pump, shroud) etc. Some components still need to be restored and purchased to assemble engine. The complete and unique 72 oil system is included but will need sorted and restored. The 915 transmission is also included, plan on a rebuild as internal condition is unknown. Attached are some pictures of the car when I originally purchased it as well as pictures of the restoration and as the car sits today. Car is located outside of Portland Oregon. Car rolls, steers, and has brakes for transportation. I am happy to help load the car for shipping with a 24 hour notice. I also have a Dropbox file with pictures... Thanks |

Matt Monson expressed a keen interest in a 72 Targa just a month or two ago. Then it was a T. An E might be even more enticing. He is planning a move to Oregon sometime in the future, so that may have a bearing on shipping if you hold it that long. I wouldn't know if he would be interested in the color though. You could PM him and see if he would be interested in your car.

Wow this is tough in that it is an ongoing project. I am guessing $20,000.

Not a problem. Good luck! Matt can rebuild that tranny in his sleep. He's a specialist on special built transmissions and if he takes it, you'll wish you'd never sold.
