PPI results/ buyer beware

Not sure if this is legit but thought I’d mention something being it may save someone.

My wife has been searching for a 996tt cab and found one she liked in the Pompano Beach, FL area. The dealer listing it raved how nice it was and really talked up how the previous owner was a “car guy” that owned many sports cars. With the Mrs very excited we moved forward with a PPI. The results were heart breaking. With 30 pages of a very detailed report including pictures, paint meter reading and DME report, we made the easy decision to pass.

I was really surprised how shady the dealer was, in one example actually swapping the rear seat bottom for pictures to hide the poorly matched leather.

If anyone is considering an ‘04 blue cab in that area, PM me and I’ll be glad to share the PPI. Happy hunting!

D

That PPI guy saved the day. Good for you for finding a quality PPI's person.

Ya, call them out. That dealer tried to cheat you. You don’t owe him any measure of discretion.

Fraud is everywhere in used cars. Believe nothing, trust nobody, expect disappointment.

I'd love to have the name of the PPI shop in case I end up looking at a car in the area.

A 30 page PPI - forget the dealer, I want the # of the guy that did it. You should have seen the one a well known performance shop in ny did for the guy that bought mine. Pitiful.

Bobby at Foreign Affairs did the PPI and was awesome to work with. He definitely saved the day. Being in MN, no way could we travel to look at the car. I’m a true believer in a 3rd party inspection. https://foreignaffairsmotorsports.com

The car showed super nice in the pictures but obviously taken to hide the ugly.

Trying to get the Mrs. “back on the horse”. Any leads appreciated!

What did the seller say when you told him to stick the car up his backside? Did they explain misrepresenting it?

For future reference after the ad eventually goes down, the VIN is WP0CB29914S675211

He complained how they “filleted that car like a 2 million dollar Ferrari”. Didn’t have much else to say or any pressure to continue with the purchase agreement.

My assumption is he took it in a trade and got in over his head not knowing how bad it really was.

I have an '04 996TT convertible about to go up on BAT -- but can stop the auction.

PM me if still looking for that type of car, as this one is SPECTACULAR.

Hello DerkPerk - I am so glad I saw your post here as I've been searching for a 996TT and been in dialog with this Progressive Motors about this same Blue 996TT just this past week... https://www.progressivemotors.co/details/used-2004-porsche-911/75489914 Am in Chicago and was contemplating a flight to FL to see the car and get a PPI but after seeing your post I am pausing.

let me know if you are open to sending me the PPI and I'd be happy to compensate you for sharing that...sounds like there were 30 pages of issues found which screams walk away but I have a excellent porsche indy guy in Chicago who i wanted to get his input on the PPI to determine if he can fix those issues or not worth it. thanks john v in Chicago

I've have a history with techweenie - if he says it's SPECTACULAR - you can take that to the bank.

Hi John, sorry for the delayed response but just seeing this. You’re too new to Pelican to accept private messages but feel free to email me derekintl250 AT yahoo.com to chat about that 996.

I did speak with Mr. techweenie about his car and decided to pass on that due to color choices of my wife but I agree solid advice from him.
