Oil light

Need some help! Took my 911 82 sc in for an oil change and on the ride back home the oil light went on ! This has never happened before in 7 years of ownerships .
Oil level is fine and all the other gauges are ok .Shop tells me the alternator is going ,and thats reason for the light ?I find this to be to much of a coincidence any feedback greatly accepted!

You should post this on the technical forum that why no responses. Did you check your oil level with engine running, full operating temperature and on level ground. Your alternator is a separate light.

Hopefully you had your oil changed by someone familiar with the 911.
