What are you using as a gauge for insured value?

As I watch prices on bringatrailer.com continue to rise, I'm thinking I need to adjust my insurance policy. For lack of a better source, I'm going to base it on sale prices on BaT but is there a better source?

I have to say, at this point I'd really rather see the prices level off. I have no desire to sell the car but this is getting a bit expensive.

Hagerty just updated their values.

Like you I use BAT sales as a barometer on values. I have agreed value so on top of BAT sales price references I ask myself would I be happy if i received a check for X on this car - almost across the board I bump up the insured value of each car. It is expensive but its also peace of mind.

I am happy values continue to go up, allows me to justify getting another

I use BaT to estimate replacement cost. Currently, my insured value is a bit less than current market but quite a bit more than I paid for the car. To bump it up to replacement cost is a hefty premium bump and I've resigned myself to if the car is stolen or totaled, I will take my "profits" and probably not seek a direct replacement.

I was told to partly base it on engine work done. Car works and drives well .

Seems like Hagerty always runs about a year behind appreciation cycles. But I will admit that their most recent updated valuations seem a little more accurate.
