1995 993 Valuation
Howdy
I have a beautiful 993 RS Tribute - very well done; Black/Black Sunroof deleted -very well done RS carpet kit Shortened knee pad Early Porsche Mod7 Momo RS door panels New windshield Upgraded suspension Recaro's Speedline's w/brand new Michelin PS4 Stock 6 speed G50 trans and 993 Non-VarioRam (original engine w/ top end rebuilt)... 161K miles. So - what is it worth if it was considered totaled by Insurance in the NY floods of IDA? If it worth it to buy it back? Is it worth the effort to rebuild? Does anyone know alternative routes as I hate to see it go. Is there a buyer for the individual pieces? The engine & transmission were drained the very next day and refilled...will need a rebuild regardless IMO. Is there a market for a great straight TUB? Does anyone want to help me part it and make a few bucks? Or should I rebuild it? I am over my head (in water) and could use some solid advice.

flooded cars will likely have electrical and other gremlins moving forward, forever. you indicate the tranny and motor were wet so that indicates it was in pretty deep. i would be curious what the insurance company would offer and then present that here for a basis. somebody just posted here about hagerty values for 911's so that might be a good place to start since it has long fallen off kelly bluebook listings.
Sorry for your misfortune LOM, great looking car and prolly lots of fun.

Thanks Juanbenae - the agreed value was $70 and they offered a buy back at $35 for all. Seemed high given the salvage title if I was to rebuild....as it will always be salvaged title...but a great car.
When thinking about the individual pieces, the value seems like it could to surpass the $35K... Engine/Trans core (needing rebuild) could it fetch $20K? Wheels and Tires are worth $4K? Seats are clean and very nice $2K? Suspension is not ruined by water, right - $5K Then a really solid and straight sunroof delete tub is worth $20K? ...with or without RS side skirts, tail, splitters etc. Just seems the parts exceed the cost and I hate to let it go so easily - or am I just being stubborn and emotional. We also lost a 2007 997. That one USAA has already paid out on and it's been picked up. Luckily, our Lexus was at the dealership, but their Rental was also totaled. Wild!

if you have the room, time and ambition to part it out you might be able to make a few bucks, but that's a lot of work. maybe adam will chime in as he or techweenie would be good info sources.
somebody might want to convert it to a racecar and in that instance the likely electrical issues & salvaged title are less troublesome. for $35k i say keep it and drive it, just be prepared for flood damage issues to be present. was the tunnel flooded, and just how high did the water get exactly. were the seat bases submerged?

In full disclosure, water was just under the gauges.
We opened and drained Trans and Engine - water came out...refilled to do my best to keep it viable for rebuild or new owner.

I wouldn’t buy that car back. I’d just walk.

Thanks for all the feedback. Its a tough decision - but ultimately, since I am not mechanically capable, I agree - I need to walk. But there is more value in the pieces than the Buy Back and if anyone wanted it before it went into the Full Insurance system I would prefer that route, as it will certainly sell at some auction for more. Seems the Engine and Trans, suspension and Speedline wheels could be worth the $35K...then the body is gravy. I just cant make it work as I dont have a Shop to sort it back out...or the means to do the parting out over time.

Let it go. Happened to me a few years ago, and in my case, the water barely got into the cabin.
Too many potential issues, and after all, it's just a car. Glad you are safe, friend. |

Take the $70K and run, don't walk, away.
You know how hard stuff is to sell. Weigh that against the time and effort you'll have to put into getting that extra money, if any. Not worth it IMO. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk

Anyone know where this 993 will most likely be auctioned? Curious what it sells at. Thank you.
