What is up with BAT prices and bidding?
I love to watch the site to find another fun driving car beyond my Targa (merc, Audi or muscle) but it seems that no real deals can be had and that the P car prices reach crazy prices. $40k pcars are fetching $60k. I still can’t part with my Targa, but I’m wondering if others believe the bidding reaches silly levels way too often.

BaT is great for sellers - brings max+ premiums….if a buyer, should always get eyes and hands on the car - either inspect in person and/or have PPI done by knowledgeable third party.

It would be nice if there was a site just like BaT used to be several years ago. A good place to find drivers and fixer-uppers. Or would it just morph into what BaT has become?
I found my first 911 in the old paper Autotrader I picked up at the Circle K convenience store news rack. Just drove across town, met the guy and arranged a PPI, no madness - $12,000 and drove it home. I miss those days - lots to choose from and affordable.

Exactly... G50s are off the charts on BAT. I have to get recalibrated on Pelican.

I thought the yellow 912 that itzame sold was fair money.
But I agree, no good deals on BaT. Some fair but most at the top of the market. I wonder how long it can last? It’s not just Porsche cars, others seem to sell higher than the ‘normal’ market. Surely as long as inflation is factored, how much can people afford to spend on ‘drivable’ assets? I wish they would find something else to sink their money in. There are so many cars I would like to have experienced, only to be kept out of them due to investors, who keep them in their garage and never drive them. |

Couldn’t agree more with all of you. BAT is completely out of control, it’s not even funny anymore. I wonder who are all these guys spending that crazy money? I mean, could I afford spending 100k for a decent Longhood? Sure I could, but that’s not my definition of a hobby any more… YMMV…

I am wondering if the economy and where it's headed, has anything to do with the rising prices?

google it
Never ceases to amaze that people ask questions before they do any research and learn for themselves. These are typically the same people that get (or take) their news from FB and IG and the dark web.

may I be the first to say "DUH"

Yes - easy "new" money is cashing out and buying hard assets. You cant drive an NFT or carry Ethereum, but you can cash them into Porsches....so yes, a good market/economy means more money chasing fewer goods....hence "higher prices".

When the Government pumps trillions into the market hard assets are all that keep up. In 2016 ish when hyper inflation took over Venezuela people were buying new cars they didn't need because the cars were appreciating faster than the interest payment rate. They believed cars were a safe investment to fight the inflation. It appears some of that same mentality is going on here. I bought my Gt3RS in Feb 2020 before Covid crashed the market. I was disappointed in my bad timing for a few months. I'm ok with it now... ![]()
