Porsche Cars for Sale Thread

I need to start this with; I love this forum, the character, the technical knowledge and because of it, I typically buy my parts from Pelican as I see it supporting the forum area. (Two door seals and an ignition switch this month).

I also enjoy the ‘Porsche cars for sale’ thread and have bought two cars via Pelican as well as sold two via the forum.

But, it does seem weird, that you can cross sell here via BAT, eBay and other forums (sometimes with the weakest description or even just a title and link), but then request that people put prices on their meticulously crafted adverts.

I agree with putting prices on, so how do others get away with cross posting to auction sites? Somehow just doesn’t seem that fair. (I know, life’s not fair…)

Also, it frustrates me a little that WTBs seem to be proliferating and getting away with posting in the ‘for sale’ section (and probably where I’m a little butt hurt lol) while others correctly post in the WTB or WTT section and get less traffic. Again, doesn’t seem fair that those that follow the rules suffer for it.

I guess being a rule follower, I should just copy others example and do the other next time I’m seriously in the market again. It just doesn’t seem very respectful (probably the Englishman in me showing through).

I’ve been meaning to post about the auction link thing for a while but now the WTB thing has hustled me into action! Gripe over.

The forums are not being policed like they used to a few years ago. All sorts of crappy things going on. You are also not supposed to post items for sale that directly compete with items sold by Pelican. That happens all the time. Ain't like it used to be.

I do however respect your viewpoint Munky King. Personally, this is the only forum I have time for momentarily. Too many projects (house and car), so little time, and I have to work most of the time too!

I don’t even manage that at home, let alone here

I have a compulsion to follow them unfortunately. One of the problems of having a dream that is bigger than my bank balance! I’m working my way towards a nice drivable long hood and it seems to be getting closer now! M2 was kind and helped fuel the dream further with his nice yellow 86 Carrera. A joy to drive in the summer time.

I work for a Japanese company, so have had meetings and visited a few places in Japan. Mostly around the Hachioji prefecture, Shinjuku near the station (crazy place) and Amori out of the main Tokyo suburbs. Amori was beautiful in winter, even with the apple trees bare.

I can understand the distraction - especially compared to the cabin fever of Minnesota in winter! Even outdoor winter pastimes can be too cold here at times!

That is interesting your connection to Japan. Aomori is certainly famous for their apples! Sometimes small guys van them down this way selling a bucket load at a time for astronomical money (sort of). One showed up in my village in the hinterland a few years back on my doorstep, and I did buy some. I haven't been up there myself, but my Kiwi friend has trying to buy one of their saplings for $500. They finally said no, keeping their secrets close to their chests.

Same Kiwi's wife has an old friend there and she sent down a few boxes full of apples they couldn't sell with nicks or blemishes a few years back. He brewed heaps of apple wine from those -- last bottle we drank a couple weeks ago. Good wine, good brewer!

If you get back here one day and you have time to make it to the Kansai, look me up! I might just be on a 2 month holiday and can take you around some places if that's interesting.

Thank you! That’s a very kind offer.

I had apple juice in Aomori while I stayed at a hotel there. It has to be said, it was pretty good!

At the moment, they are only allowing Japanese nationals back into the country (might have changed since Christmas), but who knows what 2022 will have in store for us!

For what it's worth, I haven't seen my family for nearly 6 years. I was planning/going home (over due) just as the pandemic hit now 2 years back nearly. Even my Ruf BTR motor getting rebuilt, still in Cambridgeshire has been delayed due to lock downs there. That should have been done and back here 1.5 years ago. I have to be patient, see what 2022 has for us. As is, even as a resident status gaijin, if I leave this country, they may not let me back in at all. One must be patient, grin and bear it all.
