SO.........Is BAT the only game in town?

HI,

I will be selling my 930 soon and have had a less than stellar experience so far with these guys and I'm looking at other venues, but it seems like they have it locked down.

I'd love to hear what the forum has experience. I did do a search and read a bunch, but I want more 930 sales experience. My car currently has bolt on mods and it comes with all parts to return it to stock, but I thought I could pass that job on to the next owner. Good or bad idea?

Thanks in advance.

I wish there was a better alternative but I don’t believe there is at this point in time.

My pops has sold two cars on Hemmings and has been pretty satisfied. They have multiple options for a normal ad and then an auction offering.

I would say Hemmings. But BAT is right now your best bet.

Neither of my pops' cars were porsches. but if nothing else it gives the OP something to research further. I agree though, BAT's is prolly gunna bring the most money.

if you're a PCA member, you can use PCA classifieds. It is just a classified but you do have a more knowledge audience...

If you go BaT, then it would probably be better to get back to stock--I feel as if modified 911s don't do as well as stock (unless it is a really nice singer-type build)...

Thanks for all of the feedback! I was hoping to get in the 150k ballpark. Its all bolt on mods with Lindsey racing wheel and stockers as well. All parts removed will go with the car along with the $20kish parts I installed. A lot of value. Car is super solid as well. I barely drove it and I need space and the cash will go towards my kids college.

My biggest issue with BAT is lack of service...... Interaction is super challenging and the effort is not the same as if I were to sell it on my own. I also agreed to a lower reserve to be agreeable with BAT. I asked if I put it back to stock would it be better, they said it would be the same........ so......... here I sit looking at their horrible write up and lackluster attempt at selling a car that I love and one that the next owner will as well......

Does BAT do anything after the auction other than link both parties? Bil of sale or transactional support like Ebay or not? If they do nothing, might be better to do a great write up, list it here, rennlist, PCA, and a few other enthusiast forums before using BAT as a last resort.

$150K seems like a lot for your car, but I don't follow the 930 market. The overall classic car market is soft, so you either want to sell your car for market price, or you don't.

Tough love from a guy who has a car on BaT as we speak.

I'm well aware of asking vs getting. We shall see what happens.

I assume you will want/have a reserve on your 930 if you use BaT--just be aware they may want a lower reserve than what you desire... I've definitely read of people that have acquiesced to a lower reserve and ended up regretting it because the car sold lower than what they were expecting/willing to let it go for.

BaT is going to get you your best result but you have to go through the gauntlet of lengthy lead times to listing, being beat up on your reserve, being nitpicked for a week in your auction, then ensuring the final payment and delivery occur.

I wouldn't sell your car anywhere else unless you want to take less money at the end.

I agree...... overall the market still awards well preserved, well presented or low mileage cars. In today's market mediocre is mediocre and will sell that way.

Lots of good comments. Some helpful some no so much. Either way this car is a super solid driver with a newer top end rebuild. I'm willing to put it back to stock, but they said it wont matter at the price. So as i said before it will be what it is. I'm in sales and I understand market vs desires, but I agreed to a reserve and if it doesn't sell for that then I guess I'll have to suck it up and keep the car for now.

I'm just frustrated with the process.

I’d be interested in seeing some pictures of the car.

I could definitely see that. A lot of people want to list their cars on their site so they are not hurting for business. And with the number of listings they do a day, they probably suffer a little with the customer service and individual attention with each seller…

It just aggravates me as I'm in sales and service and this is not how I like to do things. Patience is clearly in order.

Funny. My car is currently on BaT and the listing process went quite well and pretty quickly. Yes I had to reduce my reserve slightly but not much.

They first suggested a reserve almost 15% below my requested one, but a counteroffer with some justification worked. We agreed to a 2% reduction.

Still, it's lower than I want but at this point, I hope it gets there so I can move on.
