1975 911s
Hi All,
My sister has a 1975 911S that she wants to sell. (I think she bought it in 1983) She drove it for years, then parked it because it was leaking oil. My dad started to take it apart to "help", but he passed away. My sister has always wanted to restore it, but now realizes she can't. It needs a total restoration (body/interior/engine)... I think all (most?) of the original parts (and some new replacements) are there. Never been wrecked, 102k miles. What do you guys think it is worth? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

A mid-year Targa which has been disassembled and needs everything. I think $10-12 is realistic.
I do like the Talbot yellow. |

That poor little car.
Someone will save it though. I agree on $10-12k. Maybe as high as $15k, if sold locally in CA because of the smog exemption.

I agree but I am on the lower side of the estimates. It needs quite a bit of work.

5-7K for the parts value or DIY starting point.
We recently restored a fairly sound 77 targa and unless someone does all the work themselves this build will end up under water quickly. Guess: 10K motor 25k interior 30k bodywork and paint 10k suspension, brakes, clutch, etc. |

But if you can turn a phillips screwdriver and a 10mm socket, and put in good-used parts, it would cost a FRACTION of that (I did it to a '74 coupe, still have it) This car will be a good project. I just don't have the time to do it (or I would do it again). This is my 1974 2.7, I have had it since 1986. |

After I posted the O.P. I learned more, the door sill placard says: 516-9-1 That is Sahara Beige (only found on 74-77 cars), and I can't remember what the -9-1 means (painted at?, type of paint? I know someone here will...) I hear it is NOT a very common color. My 1974 Coupe is 936-9-3 |

Oh, and I think the Lack-system references a single stage vs double stage paint.

Don't ask for estimates and then dispute what people come up with. Nobody is getting paid to give their opinions. You don't need to listen to anyone, but you asked. Just take what they have to say and consider the values.
Obviously you already have number in mind. Go with that.

I said OK I will list it.. ![]() What I took exception to, was the estimates like 25K for interior, 30K for paint, 20K for suspension. As I said, that may be accurate if you pay the Porsche Factory to do it for you. This is a project car, and an easy one to work on yourself, if you can turn a screwdriver (some people can't). |

He really said $25k for interior and $30k for paint
... These cars are tiny and seeing someone say $25k for interior just makes me want to open an upholstery shop and pay good money to all the grandma's that I know because apparently people pay $25k for interior?? I'm assuming that is already including the shop mark up? Sheesh! I understand that for a concourse car or something super rare.. but wow. Posting for $20k and letting people haggle you down to $15k +/- sounds about right

Where did you sister park the 911? I want to make sure and not make the same mistake. $20k seems like too much but maybe that’s where the market is for a narrow body that needs just about everything. I hope you get $20k for it- I have one that’s in better shape but still has a lots of needs.

20k is steep for a Targa. (in that condition)

My first Porsche was a 75 911S, a great car. Good luck!

$20k for that? Wow. Some desperate buyers out there.
Honest question- is that where the market currently is? That car needed everything and nothing on that list is cheap. |

I’m guessing it’s the color. Some people seriously have a thing for it.
