Dodi Auto Sales Review help!!!!!

Hello,

Has anyone had any experience with Dodi Auto Sales located in Monterey CA?
This is the car I am interested in...fits my budget for a start
https://www.dodiauto.com/used-vehicle-1977-porsche-911-c-684/
And this is the full YT review
https://www.youtube.com/watch?si=n81C3Ce3-q40ISmf&v=c2poOnYWLvc&feature=youtu.be

Any help is appreciated if someone can point anything wrong with this car or sales person. I called few local mechanic shops in Monterey, they told me not to buy from him. He has project cars and said he has bad reviews.
I want to know from experienced drivers here what they think about the car..

Thanks.

Looks good at first, but after just a couple of pics:
Rear bumper is cocked at an angle.
Front pan is rusted through.
Rear sway bar mounts ripped off.

And it's a Euro car (no biggie).

Also:
Front valence is destroyed.
Wrong era wheels.
Rear lid fits bad.
Wide body conversion of unknown quality.
Center-mounted brake light from 964.
What's that VIN?

Looks like a paintbrush was used to paint parts of the car.

No relevant input on Dodi but on the car I stopped looking pretty early into the video. I will add these to the list: the outside mirrors have the wrong base (944 I think) making the angle wrong and the sunroof looks like it doesn't fully close and will need some adjusting.

Sunroof doesn’t close because it’s broken. He disclosed that in the video.

I love the alarm system wiring, very professional and inconspicuous. The wiring under the dash though, wow.

I remember seeing a video on IG when Dodi bought this car, the previous owner didn’t have a clue about any of its history and I got the impression he didn’t do anything to it during his ownership.

Khan, if you PM me (and I remember to check) I've got a name/number for someone in Monterey. Sort of retired but he rebuilt my motor and trans a long time ago. Still runs, still fast.

It is presented as a 77, but he is stating it's an SC. When imported would it be titled by production year, not necessarily it's actual model year? my very early 78 had a Sept. of 77 production date but was titled a 78 and 3.oL SC.

The VIN # is 9117200558
Def the front fender has very bad paint job. Can see brush strokes...The only reason I was interested is when he said he drove 200 Miles w/o issue (nothing out of ordinary) but in his test drive the gear shifting was very smooth and car/engine does not seem to vibrate at all. Seemed very tight to my eyes.
I was told by one guy here that it looks like a "Frankenstein" car. To an untrained eye like mine who never owned one or even drove one the car wide body, whale tail looks good. But again I know nothing besides look or what year were the mirrors or doors or wires hanging. etc...
So I believe final answer from experienced people here is DO NOT BUY IT.. At least for 48K?

Do not buy it. Most of those widebody conversion are done in fiberglass. They rust and fall apart.

Over the years, I have looked at several cars on this lot. My .02, most of his inventory are project cars that are way overpriced for what they are.

I just saw your second post that he is asking 48K..... plan on spending another 10-20 to make it a reliable car. If 48k is your budget for a 77 911- start with PCA classifieds and buy the seller as much as the car.

They are running a business. It's cool that they save these cars and seem like pretty nice folks somewhat. Can't knock the hustle.

My only experience: I bought a private sale 1990 964 Targa project, complete & clean title but sat outside for 5 years+ so the targa top was swiss cheese and it needed paint but the rest of the car was solid, it ran but needed a new fuel pump. At the same time, Dodi also picked up a 964 Targa project from some random guy in Cali..

For giggles/research, I reached out to Ali and asked if he was interested in buying my targa, after some typical back and forth about project cars - he offered me $15k (less than I even bought it for lol)....

The targa that Dodi bought, was sold for $45k and it was in rougher shape than my car..

All in all, they sold a project car for $40k+ and offered me $15k for the exact same thing lol

Buy low - sell high..

My suggestion if you are looking for a nice solid project, get to them before these big people get to them. Talk to more people and mention you are looking for a personal project, make relationships, maybe put out a couple 'wanting to buy' ads local to you. Good luck!

That's the place where Wayne Carrinni used to get cars from for Concourse De Lemons you can see it in several episodes. All of the cars on the lot seemed to be as previously stated project cars. Wayne used to get some real wrecks from him. Seems to have been in business for a long time If you are looking for a driver car and do not care about originality find a good local indy shop and get a PPI done.

Also, it doesn't look like it has the upgraded Carrera chain tensioners.

I like to stop by and see what he has whenever I'm in the area a couple times a year.
I would definitely not buy anything there without seeing it in person.
Project cars are putting it lightly on a lot of his inventory.
Not knocking it, just be sure you know what your getting into firsthand.

Years back on a vacation we just happened to drive by. I saw an early 70's era 911 so we pulled over. I noticed right away it was a '72 due to the oil tank door. He had a sign on it that it was a '70. I kept walking around and Dodi himself walked out and we chatted. I mentioned I had an SC Targa, etc. Then I mentioned the '72 oil tank door - and why do you have it marked as a '70? He made some nonsense about not wanting to sell it to anyone that didn't know the car (???)
