It's not just Porsches there. Some amazingly rare cars. Including a 1 of 1 1939 Horch. A couple of Miuras, Mercedes 500K. The auction total when it concludes will be eye watering. easily north of 100 million.

As for the why? Well he ran a junkyard, obviously had good taste and couldn't bear to part with many cars. Was he a hoarder? In some ways I think so. Probably was an optimist of sorts too. Always thinking "I can fix that or have that fixed, let me hold on to it" which never came to pass. Just surprised it took his sons 23 years to decide to sell. That is going to be a wild auction.

Garage
It’s official. I’ll never own a Miura.
I can’t even afford a wrecked one.

What a fun day, scored three cars, maybe more tomorrow.

The 3 cars I got are pictured, just not the Carrera or the SL's.

According to the Hagerty article $29.6 million. Less than I thought but pretty darn good result.

Not for the faint of heart, 3000 miles, Los Angeles to NY, white out snow in AZ, dodged actual tornadoes in OK, and the roads in IN and NM are rough enough to rattle the filling out of your teeth. Stick a fork in me, I'm done!

Then you should put down the phone camera and watch where you are going. Rofl.

Thanks Mocker for the link being sold for $9.355M! Interesting to know of this auction, don't see many of the 29 aluminum gullwings being sold. My shop did a refurbishment on the 1st one that had only 8500 miles for the original owners family after it had sat in the Brook Stevens Museum for decades. Set a Gull Wing value record at that time. This one even has the Rudge knock offs. Bet MB 300SL enthusiasts will be pleased with it getting out of storage especially the new owner.
