Thoughts please : 2009 c4s Pdk launch car
Thinking of selling this ….
Just got it back from the paintshop yesterday from its latest round of SoCal sun damage , and about $5000 lighter with a car that hadn’t been used since 2023 and has to live on the street with no cover with never-ending repairs and bills I’m thinking of selling …. Would like honest opinions on market value (not low-ball offers) on this car from those in the know . It’s a 2009 (year I got my green-card) Carrera 4s launch car* bought cpo from a San Diego dealership @18 months old . * Porsche specced launch-code cars from factory on new models and dealerships where invited to buy 1 (2 if they went to factory launch iirc) to use as display-only models prior to the new model arrival . These cars have an option code LAUNCH , not to be confused with launch control (that the c4s-Pdk had ) ![]() Customers could look and sit , decide and order , but no test drives . Once orders where placed and new model arrived in showrooms , “launch/display-only model” could then be approved to sell . This spec was also on the cars that journalists got invited to drive . Lots of interesting cars , such as black 997.1 with ceramic brakes etc , and lots of not-so interesting cars … (green paint and tan interiors etc not for me ) The 997.2 c4s Pdk was the one to get for me … wide-track , meteor grey , lowered euro spec sport-pasm , gt2 carbon bucket seats , chrono+ , full black leather etc etc . So , I worked lots of overtime , sold some cool guitars and amps , and finally struck a deal to buy it ![]() I was not scared to use it , and racked up the miles driving daily to construction sites throughout Southern California . the changes gradually came , with oz wheels powder-coated red (after seeing a gtsrs on hre website) , and red Gmg rollbar and gt3 front bumper . I kinda made a gt3 touring before the factory did , and eventually an old caddy did an abrupt stop on the 405 then drove away so I had a long drawn out insurance claim to replace the factory gt3rs bumper (lots of shysters , p-car taxers , and months later) I bought a new factory front bumper (8.5k iirc) and at this time fitted new gt3 front rad kit . another 2-3k ? I will have to look through paperwork but I wanna say the total was 15k , and at the time I didn’t have that as spare cash so claimed through my insurance . And as we all know , the “while you’re in there” syndrome inevitably kicked in and the headlights and indicators etc looked “old” so lots of extras where done . What I ended up with in 2025 , is a 16 year old car with 165,000 miles that may have cost the same in upkeep as I paid for it , that lives on the street , and gets tickets for no front plate whenever my elderly nieghbour is bored ….long story but I got 3 cars ticketed at the same time 3 weeks ago whilst I was asleep after nightshift , and I watched as within 1 hour of bringing it home from paint yesterday evening she was outside dramatically rolling her eyes at it . I paid to put it on a local storage facility today to avoid more costs , and decided I might have to sell . Any ideas what I should advertise it for are most welcome . Added a pic from years ago when the first gt3rs bumper was put on along with wheels and cage , ![]() Last edited by ian c2; 04-12-2025 at 07:14 PM.. |

Btw :
The front spoiler is the porsche Motorsport cup item that is classed as a consumable ![]() It bends rather than cracks , and wears from the outside in . It’s pretty much an eyesore with scratches on the topside (soft so it folds under over a bump) just driving @5 miles from paint to my house , then from my house to storage ![]() I was buying these when porsche motorsport was opposite Gmg , but now they moved I get them from Gmg ordered from pms USA (2 at a time…… should last a year before they wear to holes …. ) I have a spare somewhere , that will go with the car . |
