Porsche Crest Looking for a decent 911 project

Hi,

Anybody planning to sell their 911 preferably not RED color?
My budget is around 30K for something which is kind of a project with NO RUST or LEAKS.
Can pay all cash for right car/price.
Don't mind doing some work myself. Ok with 2.2 or 2.4 or 3.0L engines.

Located in Buffalo, NY. Willing to travel and inspect in person if needed.

Thanks

Well, that budget is unlikely to get you a rust free 911, but this might cure your itch, but better act fast.

Thank You!

Yeah, I messaged him already few weeks back. That car has rust + I think he sold the engine to someone.
I sold my 71 T MFI 2.2L with rust for 25K. Don't want to deal with rust again.. Though this looks enticing.

Bought it from my Father-in-law, who bought it from a guy in Texas. New fuel injectors (2020).
Doesn't start now, maybe needs some new pump or something...
Sitting out for past year. Got obsessed with 911s now. Never had time to work on it again. Can't sell it either, like a Family heirloom now. STUCK with it

Motor and pump would have been worth that pretty close if running. You don't want to know what I just paid for my throttle body rebuilds. Best option for you is a mid 80's with galvi body. Keep whatever off the roads in upper NY too. One reason I have original floor pans in a west coast 67.

Yes my 2.2L with larger bores with MFI, all cylinder leak down tests were less than 12%
Some 4 of them 5%, one 8% and another 12%.

I do regret selling it. But rust repairs were costing more than 50K. Didn't had that much money to spend.

I just put all new gaskets on my another 911 70T with Webers. Idle is way off... October I plan to send it to a shop in CT for adjustments. Webers are way easier to work than MFI. I would not dare to touch MFI carbs.
I never drive in Winter or rain. Always garaged..

This one probably has leaks, it will definitely be a project, and it’s not red. It’s also slightly above your budget. PPI advised so you know exactly what you’re getting into. I have no affiliation with the seller, and they used to have a “interesting” reputation on the forums back in the day, although I haven’t seen anything since I returned here when I got back in the game a year ago. Others can chime in.

Good luck with your search.

My 1st one, it was a gas one:

I’ve owned several companies over the years.

It's a great little truck. Shame that I cannot find time or more like garage space to work on this. The mileage on this car is around 40 MPG (Diesel)

So true, my last one had over 300K on it, crazy great mileage and zero to sixty in 4 days,
Scanned another picture of my first one, that I found today.

And the 2nd one again.

The tan one, was a diesel that the engine died within a day or me getting it. I ended up swapping a gas engine and Weber carb, a close ratio GTI 5 speed in place of the tall geared 4 speed, GTI front struts and brakes, swapped the ugly tan interior out for a burgundy GTI interior, then, once I found one, the blue GTI interior that I wanted, a roof mounted 16V (and later 928s) antenna, KAMEI front spoiler and hood scoop (still have one of those), GTI flares and after all said and done, I won the local SCCA H-Stock Championship with that truck and I had a “My Other Car is A Porsche” decal on a magnet under the back window, in the bed of the truck.
At one of the auto-crosses, some clown walks up, reds the decal and says

You Wish!!
, one of my friends who was talking to me and says

He actually has a really nice one, pretty new too, as fast as he is in his truck, just imagine how much faster he would be if he would run that:
The final result of the evolution, also had on (and still have) a factory VW bed cover.

In the 90s I also worked for a wholesale auto parts company that had a small fleet of diesel VW & Isuzu Pup trucks , and when the business was closing, I bought the remaining VWs. I traded the White one I built for this;

Here are a few of the ones from the automotive company;

I ended up eventually trading this one, and some fake 7x15” Fuchs;
For this and a set of factory 7&8x15 Fuchs:

The guy who I traded with knew exactly what he had, but he took the 944 in trade, but really wanted a diesel rabbit truck and wanted fake Fuchs because they were easier to polish out to use on his VWs.
I turned the white 944 into a track car and still have it. Like most of my cars, it evolved, through a series of changes to this.

I didn't know Rabbit had a cab/cap for its bed lol. Great collection..
I guess collectors or people investing in Porsches like me are a "few tens of thousands short and a decade late" in the game.
