Selling tips?
My '91 C4 is up for sale...any tips?
Got her listed on pelican, rennlist, autotrader, and PML. Was thinking ebaymotors, but skeptical...do people really bid & buy cars sight unseen? Any other sites or places to list?

I saw another post were someone was saying that you should put it on Ebay Motors just to get the national/worldwide exposure. I guess a lot of people use it for publicity and then deals get done either after or people "buy it now" at a set price. I am told that this can be risky especially as a buyer as you can't leave negative feedback if you didn't purchase it through ebay. But a recent article in Excellence said to to treat ebay as just another marketing/exposure thing, and as a buyer don't buy cars sight unseen, go check them out (fly there) or have a fellow Pelicanite check it out. Just remember - pictures are a beaters' best friend. I photographed my own 86 BMW that has terrible oxidation and in the photos it actually looks not bad at all, I couldn't believe it.

Ebay also helps establish a price. While the ebay market price may be below an asking price, it still helps to give another reference point should the car not be selling elsewhere.
Pictures are key! let the internet be your friend. The more the better. Pics of known problem areas are also helpful. For a 964 - the dash, seat side bolsters, carpets, headliner, guages, wheels, trunk, engine compartment, battery/spare tire, any spares (cover, toolkit etc). Passing on history/receipts of the maintenance; Be prepared for a PPI (you might want to have your own done as a baseline for the car as well) Detail the car (or have someone do it). The appearance of a used car is powerful thing. If someone sees dirt and cups on the floor, or dust and dirt on the exterior, they assume the car is poorly maintained. Image and perception is everything. Are you looking to "sell" or looking to get the "most" for your car? A 15 year old car, a Porsche, is for most people a luxury. A true enthusiast will be out on the places you listed and may be very knowledgable about the car and its market value. you might try: www.thesamba.com or also www.cars.com Not sure how many places you listed are "free". you may also consider a local (large coverage) newspaper. hope this helps. Good luck on your sale!
