Nice Early Car for Sale
I'll bet this would make a great driver - I wonder how much they'll ask. 2.7L, A/C, nice seats, deep 6's. They seem to always get a healthy premium, but they sure have nice looking cars. And as of today they have 12 early 911's for sale - I wonder if that's a record. EC is one of the places I miss the most after leaving OC.
Silver 1970 911E Targa What is this in the trunk - a gas heater or part of the A/C? There's none listed on the COA, and my 72 A/C fit in the smuggler's box. ![]() And speaking of the COA, the new seats look great, but I wonder what happened to the sport seats - too bad!

Yeah, but it's a targa. Would you like a targa over a coupe? And do you think K&N filters are really better?
Please know that I'm kidding. Nice looking ride, though. I'll be in the market for an early car (no targa and no k&n) in a year or so.

Looks very nice indeed. But a 2.7 in a 1970 model, how Authentic is that? What am I missing?

You're not missing anything. Hardly anything on that car is as it was delivered. FWIW, those are 16x6 wheels, not the deep 6s

Pretty car, but where are the door pockets? Plan on spending a minimum of $1K if you want a nice set. Headrests?
don't think those are deep 6's. Needs a better description: is the S bumper plastic or steel? 2.7 year? miles on it versus the car... and since authenticity is being bandied about, where is the original motor?

Man - y'all have a great eye for details. How can you tell what wheels they are?
I see your point about authenticity since he's posting the COA, but it's obvious that this is simply a hot rod.

Probably a '74-'77 motor with the CIS removed. Thats a shame. '70 would have had a great little short stroke motor which could be built up to a 2.5 with the RS P&Cs but would have been impossible to build out to a 2.7 without going to a 70.4mm crank

At least it has a green fan shroud.

So did the all of '74-'77 2.7 CIS motors. The engine number is posted on the COA. I bet it doesnt match what's in the car. No big deal, neither does mine, but I don't tout my car for its originality.

I wonder why he bothered to post the COA due to its lack of applicability. From what's posted, there's nothing wrong with this car. In fact, based on what I've learned on Pelican over the last 2 years, this could be a real nice hot rod. Me - I'd rather it had MFI, but other than that, I'd consider it. Still, I'm puzzled by the inclusion of the COA.

Looks nice for a 70. The level of originality has a bearing on the asking price. What is that? With the exception of those that strive for originality, I'm sure many would take it with the bastard 2.7 engine.
Door and map pockets are removed because, like most examples of that era, they're probably trashed or distorted. The 2.7 engine might be a CIS engine, but that's not verified. It does have Webers which is a plus. The plastic housing in the trunk houses a portion of the A/C evaporator/blower in the smuggler's box. The engine has the original York compressor which may or may not operate (little difference when it works). Like many internet cars, it looks real nice on a monitor. May be less so in person. I also don't like ads that don't list a price...

There's a 71E targa on eBay right now that looks decent. It at least has the door pockets and MFI. It was listed a month or so ago and sold via buy-it-now. Not sure what the deal is there. Somebody please buy it because the more I look at it the closer I am to buying it. I really don't need another car though, but I REALLY want a 2.2E Targa.
