Opinion on 85.5 944
Looking at a 944 tomorrow, will be my first.
Would appreciate anyone's opinions, particularly re any parts that might be very difficult to find. 85.5 NA; 5 speed 153,000 miles; 35,000 on engine rebuilt by prof'l P-car shop 6 years of receipts A/C converted to R-134 Seller is very forthright, says car needs: Pass door pull; backup lights; interior light; 3d brake light; shifter boot; windshield washer; mirror motors; driver door pocket. Seller also says clutch can get "grabby" after about 1 hour in stop and go traffic, but that car has been that way for 6 yrs. Car comes with 6 vol factory manual. Seller is asking $2300. I realize that the car needs a fair amount, but assuming a straight, rust-free body, does this sound like a good deal? Are the replacement parts (for items mentioned above) going to be too expensive? Appreciate any advice. Thanks, cthtpa |

can you do the work youself??
belts need changing every 3 years or 30k miles cost is cheap if you do it or a grand at a shop sounds like the car needs a clutch soon 2 grand in a shop so if you cannot do the work look at the 2300 as doubling or worse and is it a car worth 5000 or more |

Keep looking, you'll find the right one! There are many well-maintained ones out there for not much money.
