price check 911E 1971
I have a 1971 911E that I will be selling in the next couple of weeks the car is in very nice shape with absolutely no rust, the undercarriage is as nice as they get. This car seems to have factory, or at least dealer installed A/C.
It has always been a Texas car, 3 owners as far as I can tell. it has it original manual and service booklet, it even has the original 2.2 L sticker that was never installed and it is in the glove box. It is a matching numbers car with MFI.The only thing non original on this car is the color it is painted Tangerine from a metallic Gold VIN # 9111200946, engine number 6211526 type 911/01 gearbox 911/01 7118397. there is no indication of any accidents, the engine has just been rebuilt and completely detailed, this car feels and runs great ! The interior has a perfect dash and the front seats have just been done the only thing missing on the inside is the door pockets, I have a set but they are not installed. I'm trying to figure out a fair price for this car all your comments are welcomed |

Try Early 911S web site. My idea is it could bring north or south of 27k depending on condition. Take a look at this month's EXCELLECE mag as they do an entire section on early 911's. Their prices are low in my opinion but they list an excellent 1971 example at under 26k.
You will definetely get rust questions and receipts and maintanance questions and take a lot of pictures of the good and the bad, Hope that helps.

I think 20's is being very optimistic with it. I'd say 20K and you did quite well, probably more like 16K and you got market. I am just going off of what I have seen. Lots of people have asking prices that might throw you off, they often sell for fifty percent of that when the asking is rediculous.

Do you have pics of the repaint process?
If there truly is no rust and all you say is true i'd have no problem dropping $20k on such a car. In fact if i didn't already have a car i'd be emailing you to find out when i could fly out to see it.

I think if you sell it for under $25k (again, assuming accurate description) you will likely see it get flipped.

Make sure you do all the little things to it, like installing the door pockets. Also make sure lots of European eyeballs can view the car. They are buying our cars up with much stronger currency. It would be especially desirable to an overseas buyer since it is a coupe. ![]()

I will pay $16,500
I would think 20K. I would rather have yours for 20K then an RS clone for 30K |

You guys who keep talking about the strong European currency, forget that import tax on a car to Europe is 29% + shipping cost which is at least another $1,200. Even with the strong FX to the US$ now US$1.32: Euro$1, the exchange rate advantage is lost.
The reason people in Europe are buying them up from America now is because there are so few good ones for sale here. And the ones that are here have been restored at great cost and as a result are VERY expensive. Buying one in the USA will save some money for sure now, but not alot. It's more a supply/demand thing here. Do a search on German EBay and then compare it to USA Ebay. You will see what I mean. There are 3-4 times the number of 911's on EBay in the US. Blau, great point on the European taxes and information from your point of view.

Brian, you are right about our (US) cars going to Europe. I had a car for sale a while back and calls came from all over. Blau's point about the lack of cars over there is correct. A high currency just levels things out a little bit even with the taxes and the internet expands the market to "world wide" thus more potential buyers for a limited supply of goods.

When I started shopping for one of these beauties, I originally decided on an E. Well, I actually wanted an S 10 years ago but decided on American Muscle instead.
![]() Plus, I agree with what Brian and others are saying - the folks in Europe and the UK have strong values on their currency and still consider buying a rust free US car a good deal even with the import taxes and shipping fees. Their cars were mostly driven hard year round and subjected to all kinds of weather unlike our southern and southwest states, not to mention automotive mecca - CA. They seem to be paying top USD for these cars, especially if they are "no rust" cars. Depending on the condition of your car, I see no reason why there would not be a buyer in the high 20's or more +/-. Just maker sure it is spotless, all numbers match, and the pockets installed. Painted to the correct code is key also and could devalue the car, but personally I love the Tangerine. Good luck with the sale and if I did not already have too many 911's, I would be on a plane...
