KBB vs Edmunds - thoughts?
So I'm looking into the "value" of my 2001 Boxster 2.7 because I'm coming to the realization that nobody wants to pay what I'm asking for my SC, and at this point I definitely have a bottom line price that nobody is approaching. Sometime this year, one of these cars has to go, and as sad as it would be to sell her, the bank account may dictate that it be the Boxster instead of the 911.
Anywho...it's interesting to see the discrepancies in the prices given out by KBB.com and Edmunds.com. I'm curious to hear if anybody has any experience as to which one might be more accurate. My initial thought is Edmunds because they ask more "questions" about the car (take into account more things than KBB does), but my very little research (and fears, if you will) indicates that the KBB price is actually more accurate to the "real world". What are your thoughts? FWIW KBB says my good condition 34k mile car is worth $21.4k on the private party market, while Edmunds says the same car is worth $24k. I would probably ask $24k and work down from there...

Doug, I would compare those numbers against the NADA guides. The web site also has real world numbers for SC's.

Thanks, NADA is pretty much in line with KBB, although they also don't ask a lot of "questions" about options, etc. Maybe that's not that important...
Interesting thing about the NADA price for SCs...they only offer "retail" pricing?

I've generally found KBB to be more accurate EXCEPT for the MINI Cooper. For some reason there figures are completely out of line for what the cars sell for. According to KBB used MINI's are selling for more than new ones.!

KBB private party value is the most accurate source I know for actual selling prices for modern cars. After cars are about 10 years old they are less accurate, but I still use them as a source.
